6 The Coaching Management Style For leaders, trying to control the uncontrollable is inefficient. If leaders want their employees to perform well, they must encourage them to become competent in their own self-management. Doing this will allow management to focus on long term vision, innovation, strategy, and competition. Individuals often have hidden resources and talents, but keep them suppressed or untapped with negative beliefs and comments about themselves or others. A coaching manager supports and challenges employees through inquiries, and provides them with positive examples of their increased potential, hence they can develop a belief in their ability to master their talents. Coaching managers also help competent, motivated employees to improve their performance by building short-term/long-term goals and capabilities. The coaching manager focuses on helping employees identify their strengths and weaknesses, and sets development plans to foster career goals. 10 The Manager as Coach Manager as Coach is a three day course on Coaching Style Management. Erickson has developed this curriculum, based on Solution-Focused Coaching tools and processes, to reframe the context of managerial skills and organizational talent for 21 st Century leaders. This ICF accredited program provides managers and executives with a set of effective coaching skills to apply to their employees. Here, the manager does not act as an internal corporate coach, but rather uses the coaching tools to help employees realize their full potential to meet and exceed the expectations of the business. 13 Workplace Coach Training ICF ACC Program WHAT IS THE ICF ACCREDITED WORKPLACE COACH TRAINING PROGRAM? Erickson Corporate is delighted to announce the availability of the new ACC program accredited by the ICF that will help build workplace Solution-Focused and Outcome-Oriented coaching skills. Intensive, highly experiential online, or in-person training is complimented by ten hours of telephone/web based mentorship and peer coaching practicum. This blended approach delivers a learning experience which ensures the integration of new coaching skills. The 60 hour, three component program is designed to move candidates through the learning process with fun, flair, and professionalism.
