Building a sustainable habitat with solutions for all types of comfort Today Saint-Gobain must face many challenges in order to satisfy increasingly demanding requirements in terms not only of energy and environmental performance but also of comfort and well-being. Batimat offers the Group the opportunity to provide proof of its potential for innovation and creativity by proposing interrelated solutions and services with high added value. Five movies showcase over 90 innovative materials which, in addition to satisfying the requirements of thermal comfort, also satisfy acoustic comfort, air quality, security, modularity and the aesthetic of buildings. Batimat enables Saint-Gobain to promote its commitment to serve professionals in the building sector. This commitment is illustrated through its training offer which is aimed at helping the entire sector to hone its skills. It can also be seen in the digital modeling as a new tool to assist in the design of buildings. For this edition Saint-Gobain has opted for a decidedly interactive approach. The Group invites you to enjoy a special experience where the emphasis on dialogue, friendliness and comfort. Welcome! Pierre-André de Chalendar, Chief Executive Officer, Saint-Gobain Group From November 4th to 8th Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre From Monday to Friday, 9.00 AM to 6 PM (until 9.00 PM on Thursday) SAINT-GOBAIN BOOTH: HALL 5A - H - BOOTH N

A SPACE 2.0 The architectural concept For the 2013 BATIMAT trade show, Saint-Gobain appealed to the creativity of architects Isabelle Cohendet and Anne Favier from Interior & Architecture Cabinet. The two architects have created a booth using contemporary architecture to symbolize the city of tomorrow. Our idea was to enable the visitor to really feel the Saint-Gobain range of solutions. We wanted to express the desire for harmony between people and nature, between raw materials and technology, between comfort and innovation. We tried to add an emotional and human touch by creating a space which is visible from outside but comes alive inside explained the architects. A street and several life-size trees envelop the visitor in the city of tomorrow. At the end of the street, five colourful facades suggest a succession of urban skylines. Interactive experiences based on movies and virtual reality are being unveiled at the very core of the booth

BUILD A PROJECT WITH SAINT-GOBAIN BATIMAT is the opportunity for Saint-Gobain and its brands to create a connexion with the DomoLab (Aubervilliers), the first innovation centre for habitat. Visitors are able to book shuttle buses, running at fixed times from the bus stop at the Saint-Gobain booth. 6. THE MULTI-COMFORT CROSSROADS There are three physical models along the course of the visit. These illustrate how sustainable habitat is put into practice: Saint-Gobain Multi-Comfort House (2011, Beaucouzé); Saint-Gobain Multi-Comfort Renovation (2014, Villeneuve- Saint-Georges); Positive energy building (2012, La Rochelle). 7. SOLUTIONS FOR ALL TYPES OF COMFORT Each colourful facade emphasizes one type of comfort: thermal, health, visual, modular and security, and acoustic. Five movies showcase more than 90 innovative solutions to build a sustainable habitat. 8. THE INNOVATION CAFÉ At the Innovation Café, on the mezzanine level, you can enjoy a relaxed, sociable experience and make individual contact with Group managers. This area is also the meeting point for themed innovation workshops. 6
A SPACE 2.0 The future is made of Saint-Gobain Research and innovation are central to Saint-Gobain's habitat strategy and its sustainable development policy. For the third year running, Thomson Reuters has included Saint-Gobain in its list of the Top 100 Global Innovators, the world's most innovative companies. It demonstrates that, in a changing and uncertain world, Saint-Gobain is imagining the future of the construction sector. The Group s vision will be expressed through its R&D teams. The presence of Research and Development on our Saint-Gobain booth at BATIMAT is a first. It puts into perspective the very strong link between research and the spreading of new solutions on the construction markets. A strong involvement of R&D teams and a close attention to market needs are the prerequisites for innovation. This also proves that Saint-Gobain is a leading actor in innovation. Habitat has to face up to huge energy and environmental challenges. In order to rise to them, the whole of the construction chain need to innovate faster and more often and above all, need to work together. While energy and environment are two key drivers, we also need to maintain our efforts to improve comfort levels in habitat. Didier Roux Director of Research and Innovation, Saint-Gobain
A SPACE 2.0 Working on thermal comfort every day means improving the thermal performance of materials. Over the longer term, it means developing the insulating materials of tomorrow, materials that will regulate the temperature inside buildings or that will combine a range of functionalities. It also means working on models and methods of characterisation in situ of the overall thermal performance of the buildings. Clothilde Charmantray Head of the Thermal Comfort Group, Saint-Gobain Measuring indoor air quality takes into consideration a number of parameters Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), carbon dioxide, inert particles, radon, temperature and relative humidity. To improve the comfort of the inhabitants, Saint-Gobain is developing solutions able to capture and to neutralise some of these constituents. Developments are currently underway on materials that are relatively insensitive to mould. Jean Sablayrolles - Head of the Indoor Air Transversal Quality Programme, Saint-Gobain Managing research projects in the area of visual comfort currently means combining scientific skills in areas such as optics and thermal engineering, but also in new areas for Saint-Gobain, such as physiology or the psychology of perception. Imagine new functionalities to the glazing of tomorrow a glazing that is transparent during the day and acts as a light at night, or a glazing that is capable of cooling interior spaces - all these subjects are challenges that Saint-Gobain must take up. Eloïse Sok Visual Comfort Development Engineer, Saint-Gobain
A SPACE 2.0 We run creativity workshops to develop new solutions that meet the challenges of ageing. Alongside the brands' marketing managers, we are trying to put ourselves in other peoples' shoes and design solutions that might make their daily lives easier. In addition to accessibility, modular comfort for Saint-Gobain also covers the adaptability of spaces and the security of goods and people. The challenge consists in associating an immediate need with a possible future need. For example we are developing solutions against fire risks, risks of break-in or risks of explosion... Eric Mangematin Innovation Manager, Habitat France, Saint-Gobain Classrooms, children's bedrooms, concert halls and offices all have acoustic comfort criteria that require the development of appropriate solutions. For each living space, there are specific responses designed to reduce impact noises, limit reverberation or improve speech intelligibility. The phenomena of sound propagation, absorption and transmission have an influence on the design of our materials. Being an acoustic researcher at Saint-Gobain gives me the opportunity to bring my expertise to bear in expanding the Group's materials range. David Fournier Head of the Acoustic Comfort Group, Saint-Gobain EXPLORE FURTHER ON OUR BOOTH - 4 THEMED INNOVATION WORKSHOPS Led by researchers and marketing managers from the Saint-Gobain Group, four 30-minute workshops are being held at fixed times during the show, from Tuesday to Friday. They are open access, and held on the mezzanine level in the Innovation Café. Visit to view the topics and times. -1 REPORTAGE ON RESEARCH AND INNOVATION Five Saint-Gobain researchers present their vision of the future for habitat
SOLUTIONS FOR ALL TYPES OF COMFORT 90 innovative solutions to discover! Comfort in buildings means promoting a feeling of well-being for both the body and the spirit. Comfort may take a variety of forms, but Saint-Gobain has broken it down into five key themes which will be used to guide the visitor s tour. Each colourful facade will emphasize one type of comfort, while five movies will showcase more than 90 innovative solutions to build a sustainable habitat. 2 Solutions for thermal comfort 2 Solutions for health comfort 2 Solutions for visual comfort 2 Solutions for modular and security comfort 2 Solutions for acoustic comfort FIVE SHORT MOVIES AND 90 INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS Twenty-four hours in the life of a 2013 family The Gobain family: Alexandra, Pierre and their three children lead a pleasant and comfortable life. Alexandra is a very active woman who spends a lot of time at the office in meeting after meeting. Pierre, an architect, works from home. Because of his job, he often travels and comes into contact with new construction solutions. Coralie, their eldest child, is preparing for her exams. She is a sensible student, and spends her time revising despite the presence of her noisy younger brothers. These smart, active boys like football and music. The five short movies relate the daily life of this family through which visitors to the Saint-Gobain booth can explore more than 90 of the Group's innovative solutions. All these solutions are designed to improve comfort in habitat
