Principal News LAST DAY OF SCHOOL TERM FRIDAY 19 TH DECEMBER CLOSING 1.30PM We have reached the end of another year. Your children have grown physically, socially, emotionally as well as academically. I have enjoyed watching their growth and look forward to following them on their learning journeys next year. I would like to wish all families in the Mulgrave School community, a joyous, safe and happy Christmas. Hopefully you will be able to relax and unwind and enjoy having your children home with you. Merry Christmas everyone! Graduation On Monday our Year 6 students had their Graduation ceremony. They all looked magnificent and presented a beautiful event for teachers and families. Students had a special Graduation lunch earlier in the day and a disco followed their formal ceremony. We look forward to hearing how this fine group of students progress through secondary college and what career paths they take. School Captains I would like to commend Jared Reynolds and Enia Temas for the very responsible way in which they have carried out their roles of School Captains this year. They have both been very reliable and have taken their roles seriously. Thank you very much to you both and good luck next year! Staffing 2015 After many, many years teaching thousands of Mulgrave Primary School students, Mrs. Heather Moyle has decided to retire at the end of this term. Heather is an excellent teacher and a terrific mentor for our teachers. Her dedication to her job and to each child in her care has been commendable. Heather is going to relax and enjoy her grandchildren over the next few months before making any firm plans for the future. We thank Heather for the time she has given to Mulgrave Primary School and wish her good health and happiness for the future. Staff members Miss Sophie Cole and Mrs. Di Fox will also be leaving us at the end of this year. We thank both Sophie and Di for their work with our students and programs this year and wish them well for Sophie has worked in our Science Specialist program and Di replaced Angelita George and taught Grade 3/4G in the second half of the year when Angelita took some personal leave.
2 Joining us next year will be Ms. Le-Buu Ly and Mrs. Sally Bush. Also returning after some Family Leave is Mrs. Nicola Weerakoon. We look forward to having Nicola back on staff on a regular basis Structure Next year our school structure will comprise of 3 Prep grades; 2 Grade ones; 2 Grade twos; 3 Grade 3/4s; 1 Grade 5; 2 Grade 6s. Our numbers have been continually fluctuating and most probably will continue to do so during the Christmas holidays. Student numbers determine how we structure our grades. Where possible, I will always attempt to have straight grades as I know that this is a preferable model for a parents perspective. Composite grades can be very beneficial for all children. There are many advantages to be gained from working with a group of children whose ages range over a couple of years. Our teachers teach to your child s individual ability and not to his/ her age and this applies whether the grade is straight or composite. Grades have now been confirmed and your child should have brought home a note after meeting with their group and their 2015 teacher. Parent Helpers I would like to formally thank all of our parent helpers for the work they have done with our teachers and students this year. We have had great assistance in our classrooms, at PMP, in our gardens, with changing bed linen and many more jobs around the school. We love having you being involved in our school community and hope to see you around next year again! Christmas Raffle and Hamper Donations Thank you to all families who made donations to our Christmas raffle this year and purchased tickets. All proceeds go back into supporting your children in our programs and the provision of resources. Thank you to our office staff who have coordinated this task extremely well. I hope you were a winner! 2014 Christmas Carols Last week we had a wonderfully festive Christmas Carols night in our school hall. It was great to see such an amazing turnout of parents, family and friends. Big Day Out To Ballam Park Thursday 11 th December What a fantastic day we all had at the park last week.
