1 University of North Florida Student Union Jacksonville, FL Elkins provided CM at Risk services for this 148,019 SF, threestory facility for The University of North Florida. This iconic building is the centerpiece of the campus. The building has meeting space, dining facilities, a bookstore, convenience store, leased retail space, administrative offices, banquet hall, lounges, student services offices and activity spaces including a grand ball room for events. The construction is precast concrete with structural steel and will boast high-end finishes. This is a LEED Gold building. UNF and Elkins completed the first LEED Certified building on campus, the Social Sciences Building, in The project was completed on time and within budget. The client was satisfied in the areas of cost, quality, schedule, relationships and safety. We dealt directly with Student Affairs and Student Government on this project to ensure their wants and needs were incorporated into the building. Teamwork is what makes an Elkins project great.

2 Valdosta State University Psychology Building Valdosta, GA The Project removed the North Wing of Converse Hall, an existing two-story residence hall in order to construct a new three-story academic structure to house the Psychology Department on the main campus of Valdosta State University. The demolition of half of the existing two-story stucco Converse Residence Hall makes way for the new 33,000 SF building consisting of three stories. Construction is steel frame with CMU infill walls, concrete elevator shaft, concrete floor slabs, and concrete or metal roof deck. The roof is pitched and constructed with clay tile to match the campus. Exterior finish is stucco, cast stone lintels, cast stone brackets at entry porches, and timber framing with timber brackets for tile roof. The building has metal framed windows, and a clay tile mansard roof at the perimeter and entry porches. Our most important task is to make the clients happy.

3 Jacksonville University Davis College of Business Jacksonville, FL The company s leadership team shares a passionate commitment to integrity, quality and customer service excellence. Winner of a Horizon Award for Excellence in Construction, The Jacksonville University Davis College of Business is a two-story, 55,000 SF facility housing state-of-the-art technology, classrooms, meeting spaces, administrative offices, behavioral simulation rooms and a flight simulator. The building is a combination of tilt-up panel construction with brick inlays and a storefront entrance. Students enter into a two-story lobby with a plasma screen showing class schedules as well as a grab-n-go cafe. The grand space also serves as a prefunction area to a 250-seat meeting space.

4 University of South Alabama Engineering & Computing Sciences Building Mobile, AL Our most important task is to make the clients happy. Elkins provided general contracting services for this 148,000 SF Engineering and Computing Sciences Building. The facility has classrooms, engineering and computer teaching labs, research labs and office space. The project included sitework and utilities. The building was composed of a cast-in-place concrete frame, masonry and stud walls with brick veneer. This project is expected to achieve LEED Silver Certification. Construction was performed on an occupied university campus.

5 Florida Community College Advanced Technology Center Jacksonville, FL Teamwork is what makes an Elkins project great. The Advanced Technology Center is a 130,000 SF training center featuring state-of-the-art computer systems. The facility includes new classrooms and laboratories for bioinformatic technology with explosion-proof lab space for genetic research, biotechnology and biomedical advanced manufacturing classes. The building also features a water bottling plant and automotive technology lab. The building houses state-of-the-art labs as well as information and computer technology laboratories.

6 University of North Florida Social Sciences Building Jacksonville, FL Our most important task is to make the clients happy. This 70,589 SF building includes classrooms, labs, and faculty and staff offices. The construction is precast concrete with a built-up membrane roofing system. The project utilized environmentally friendly construction methods and systems such as waterless urinals and low-flow fixtures to conserve water and low-energy lighting and lighting controls to cut down on the overall utility consumption of the building. These efforts translated into ongoing savings for the life of the building. This was the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) registered building in Jacksonville and achieved LEED Certification in 2007.

7 Valdosta State University Bailey Science Center Addition Valdosta, GA The Elkins difference is our policy of transparency with our customers and an open-door policy for our staff 15,000 SF, two-story addition to existing science center. Concrete frame/floors, CMU infill, brick and cast stone exterior. The facility includes a super section dry lab; super section classrooms; offices; restrooms; circulation; and data, custodial, electrical, and mechanical spaces. The project was built on an extremely tight site, located between classroom buildings, the President s office and a major campus thoroughfare.

8 University of South Florida Student Residence Hall St. Petersburg, FL We never lose sight of the personal aspect of building and construction. The new student residential facility includes a mix of four-bedroom single and two-bedroom double apartments in a seven-story building to minimize rental risk and provide flexibility in housing assignments. The 125,510 SF structure was constructed on a rock column foundation system in lieu of auger piles due to soil voids inherent in the St. Petersburg area. Load bearing precast concrete walls were chosen for durability and sustainability. Floor design has free spanning precast double tees, again for durability and the economics of a single element system.

9 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Welcome Center & Administration Building Daytona Beach, FL 37,000 SF, two-story facility for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The building holds offices and meeting spaces for the President of the University, the University Cabinet and Board of Trustees. Designed as an administration building and a welcome center, the building also boasts outdoor reflection pools and fountains, a 50-foot atrium with a clerestory, interactive information kiosks and projection screens, and a large assembly hall seating 350 people separated from a pre-function space by a motorized radius partitions. The interior also includes a VIP area with a commercial kitchen, dining area, bar and seating area. It is separated from the offices by an interior pedestrian bridge. The construction is structural concrete and steel, architectural concrete and composite metal panels, glass and precast. The roof is constructed of thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) single-ply membranes. Terrazzo flooring and hardwood flooring, custom wood millwork, metal panel ceilings, interior glass walls and custom fixtures enhance the interiors of the building. 10 Florida Community College Betty P. Cook Center Yulee, FL Teamwork is what makes an Elkins project great. Betty P. Cook Center Campus for Florida Community College included two new school buildings, comprised of 45,478 SF and two floors. The facility has both classrooms and labs. The buildings are constructed of structural steel, pre-engineered metal trusses, with a metal roof, and features a brick veneer finish with covered walkways. The project involved extensive site work including the modification, enlargement and bulk-heading of an existing retainage pond. The project was completed for the Florida Department of Management Services and utilized a sales-tax savings plan and an MBE Program.

11 University of Florida Plant Quarantine Facility Ft. Pierce, FL The company s leadership team shares a passionate commitment to integrity, quality and customer service excellence. Winner of an Excellence in Construction Award, the University of Florida Exotic/Aquatic Plant Quarantine Facility is a research center for the study of foreign plants and insects. This two-story, 19,710 SF building has a large quarantine area, which consists of 12,380 SF of laboratory spaces for the study of plants and insects, as well as other research related facilities such as hood rooms. It has six large greenhouses and office areas. The nature of the quarantined space requires a complex mechanical system as well as particular attention to detail when executing certain architectural systems.

12 University of South Alabama Student Housing Mobile, AL This 108,000 SF student housing facility for the University of South Alabama has 380 beds on four floors configured in two bedroom, single bath units. There are also two, twobedroom apartments with full kitchens for the residence assistants. All other units include sinks and space for a small refrigerator. A large main lobby with staircase and elevators lead to all floors. A laundry room, classroom and small recreational space are located on the first floor. The building is constructed of premanufactured metal wall panels, aerated autoclave concrete floor panels, brick and cast stone, and a shingle roof with standing seam metal accents. Located on the interior of the campus, significant daily coordination with subcontractors was required for material delivery to the area, to prevent congestion and schedule delays. This was especially true of the wall and floor panel deliveries which occurred 4-6 times per day.
