1 Federal Health Development Funding Opportunities - Updated 10/27/2015 Below you will find a brief description of each Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) that has been announced and a link to each grant website which has complete funding, award, and eligibility information. If applying for any of these grants, please let us know via to to ensure OSHPD can report how many California stakeholders are applying for these federal grants. HCR 10/9/15 Nurse Anesthetist Traineeship (NAT) Division of Nursing and Public Health Grant Description Grant Eligibility Funding Available Key s The NAT award provides traineeship support for licensed registered nurses enrolled as full-time students in an accredited graduate-level nurse anesthesia program. Traineeship grants are awarded to accredited institutions that educate registered nurses to become nurse anesthetists and gives funding preference and special consideration to schools whose graduates work in areas that address rural, underserved, and public health nursing needs. The awards support all or part of the costs of tuition, books/e-books, fees and reasonable living expenses (stipends) of the individual during the traineeship. NAT funds are awarded to institutions, not individuals. $2,250,000 Apply at by 11/20/15 Request a 11/03/15 9/22/15 Nursing Diversity (NWD) Division of Nursing and Public Health The NWD increases nursing education opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, including racial and ethnic minorities that are underrepresented among registered nurses by using social determinants to guide the selection of evidence-based approaches that have been successful in retaining students from disadvantaged backgrounds in schools of nursing. Supports projects that provide student stipends or scholarships, stipends for diploma or associate degree nurses to enter a bridge or degree completion program, scholarships or stipends for accelerated nursing degree programs, pre-entry preparation, advanced education preparation, and retention activities. Supports creative educational activities focused on Experiences. Examples for undergrads, to provide hands-on exposure to research; reinforce intent to graduate with a science degree; for graduate and medical, dental, nursing and other health professional students, to provide research experiences/related training not available through formal training mechanisms; for postdoctorates/medical residents, to extend skills, experiences, and knowledge base. 7 1/2/15 Nurse Faculty Loan (NFLP) /2/15 Primary Care Training and Enhancement (PCTE) Awards Grant Description Grant Eligibility Funding Available Key s Proposes to increase the number of qualified nursing faculty with NFLP providing funding to schools of nursing to support the establishment and operation of a distinct, interest-bearing NFLP loan fund. Offers loan cancellation of up to 85% for borrowers that graduate and serve as full-time nursing faculty for prescribed period of time. Eligible schools must offer educator coursework within an advanced education nursing degree program(s) that will prepare the graduate student to teach.
