It is one of Adelaide s oldest and most respected Colleges and has been educating boys in South Australia since The College provides an educational service Birth to Year 12 across three campuses. CBC Child Care Centre, CBC Junior Campus and Senior Campus. The college has a current enrolment in 2014 in the vicinity of 1360 students across the three campuses. Christian Brothers College provides a vibrant and creative response to the educational needs of today. (Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice Tradition ). The College aspires to be faithful to the four EREA Touchstones of Liberating Education, Inclusive Community, Gospel Spirituality, and Justice and Solidarity as described in The Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice Tradition. 2 BROAD PURPOSE The IT Technician will promote the CBC and EREA mission, vision, values and touch stones in all aspects of the role. They will work within available budgetary and staffing levels to ensure optimal student outcomes and promote contemporary 21 st Century teaching and learning. They will establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, the wider community, students and their families to effectively individualise student learning. They will have well developed skills in ICT and the ability to communicate effectively with all members of the College community and its external partners. The IT Technician will have the knowledge, skills and demonstrated capacity for the self-directed application required to perform tasks involving independent use of a high degree of technical, or applied theoretical knowledge, and interpersonal skills. The IT Technician is responsible for the day to day effective and efficient operation of the Colleges IT systems and services, and will; Support and provide assistance with the management of the Colleges IT systems and services Support users (teaching and administration staff, students and parents) of the network as required which includes IT network related issues, new installations, re-configurations and updates. Assist with the deployment of workstation SOE images as required Develop and maintain a strong customer service focus when dealing with staff and students through providing high quality first level IT support Understand College processes and procedures to ensure that ongoing maintenance and support can be continually improved and managed for the College Display good judgement when dealing with user problems, ensure that correct escalation procedures are followed The IT Technician will: DUTY STATEMENT Provide the first point of contact for staff and students seeking IT support including but not limited to: Troubleshooting password and login problems Troubleshooting Internet access problems Checking printer cartridges and replace as appropriate Colour printing for staff and students and recording for budget purposes Providing instruction on the use of school software ie Microsoft Office, Markbook, ClickView, etc. Data recovery from USB and network drives using software tools Assisting with setting up projectors, screens and laptops for presentations Setting up wireless connections on staff or student laptops Assisting staff and student with the schools web based systems, ie Scholaris and Preceda Responding promptly to problems in computer laboratories and classrooms Maintenance of computers and laptops during school holidays: Deploy the current student SOE to all student machines Replace faulty equipment Collect serial numbers of faulty PCs and monitors for warranty purposes Produce a summary of the deployment Assist the Network Administrator with IT related projects such as desktop and infrastructure rollouts by: Assisting with new rollouts, software installation and deployment tasks Unpacking and setting up new desktops and laptops Decommissioning old equipment October 2014

3 Advise staff of network issues and IT related procedures, including regular reminders of procedures Research and test software for the College as required Assist the Network Administrator with Asset Management by: Assisting with the purchase and disposal of all IT equipment, audio visual and multimedia assets of the College Maintaining an asset register by auditing hardware, bar-coding equipment and recording all serial numbers of resources and their locations Ensuring all equipment including multimedia equipment is cleaned, repaired and serviced or maintained to standards acceptable to the College Conducting an annual stock-take of equipment Escalate support issues to the IT Manager when required Other duties as directed by the Principal / Business & Finance Manager / IT Manager PERSON SPECIFICATIONS The successful applicant will demonstrate the following: The highest level of relationship building ability and customer service focus. 4 SELECTION CRITERIA The IT Technician is responsible for addressing the four College values through leadership which is faith centred, innovative and focused on success for all. Strategically developing and monitoring a holistic education and the pursuit of success for all; Responding to compliancy matters in relation to Catholic Education Office, EREA, National and State compliancy incorporating OH&S etc; Managing the curriculum and learning (R-6) to ensure that it authentically responds to the needs of the student and CEO, NGSRB, SACSA, SACE and Australian Curriculum requirements. Ensuring that Australian Curriculum documents are made available through the College s intranet; Developing and managing a Learning Area Virtual Classroom on the College s intranet for the purpose of providing information and necessary documentation for all College staff. Collaborate with key leaders of learning to ensure high quality assessment and reporting R-6 Provide educational management and organisation to ensure promotes a safe and rigorous learning environment. COMMUNITY Collaboratively plan, implement and review learning opportunities that are reflective of high quality teaching and learning and promote within the community inclusion and spiritual formation consistent with the college Mission, Vision, Values and the Touchstones and Charter of the EREA. Celebrate and lead unique traditions of the College and innovatively contribute to its future vision and growth; Maintaining continuous, open communication with the Executive Leadership Team, Director Vision and Innovation, key leaders in learning across the campus, teachers, children, their families and professional partnerships within the wider community. 5 Qualifications and Training SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Training or experience in a similar position A sound knowledge of Microsoft Windows and the Microsoft Office range of software especially Windows 7 and above, Internet Explorer 9 and above, and Office 2010 and above Extensive knowledge and proven skills of PC and other IT equipment trouble-shooting, diagnosis and repair at both a hardware and software level Previous experience working with Apple Mac based computers is considered advantageous Strong multimedia skills and the ability to work confidently with A/V systems, interactive whiteboards and projectors Experience in a community managed organisation Basic Emergency Life Support (BELS), OR Senior First Aid Certificate (if nominated First Aid/Health Care Officer) Approved Mandatory Notification training Police Clearance to work in Catholic Education SA Perform any other duties as required from time to time by the principal WORK HEALTH & SAFETY This role is deemed to be a Worker under the South Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act As a Worker, while at work you must take reasonable care for your own health and safety take reasonable care that your actions or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons comply, in so far as you are reasonably able to, with any reasonable instruction given by the employer cooperate with any reasonable policy or procedure of the employer that is related to health and safety at the workplace that has been notified to workers Reference: Division 4, Section 27 and 28 WHS Act 2012 SIGNED Date (Principal or Delegate) SIGNED Date (Employee) October 2014
