If an oral examination or a written exam takes place, the lecturer will decide about its duration at the beginning of the semester. They will be, then, not only able to assess the efficiency of algorithms, but also analyse the problems of Business Informatics and develop effective algorithms by using data structures adequate for the problems. In the exercises, skills are taught to implement concrete solution algorithms through a programming language relevant for engineers of Business Informatics. They understand what the objective of Business Informatics is and the terminology that Business Informatics deals with. They are able to identify the important basic technologies of processing and storage for operative IT systems and recall important basic terminology of communication technologies. They are familiar with the basic interactions between organization and technology. They are capable of describing the important forms and applications of group work. They know the ERP concept and the structure of Data Warehouses and executive information systems. The have an overview of the industry-independent application systems and, as examples, typical applications of the data processing support in the subsidiary industry and trade. They can describe the basic forms and advantages of data process supported processes among enterprises. They identify the basic forms of ecommerce, including the advantages and disadvantages of standard software and individual software. They have an overview of the phase concepts, prototyping and the spiral model. They know the different tasks in the Information Management and categorize them properly. The can analyse an application field, identify and structure the objects and classes important for data maintenance. They can organize this analysis process and implement the same together with one or more application specialists. For this, they apply the ER method that differentiates and structures the main entities and relationships. The students can apply the rules of mapping ER diagrams to relational structures, master the relational improvement plan and, thus, implement databases with the SQL data definition language. They can apply the querying language of SQL in order to formulate ad-hoc queries for extensive data analyses. The students understand the purpose of database usage and can motivate it in the project environment.
