2 Executive Practice & Healthcare Leadership Program Information Research College of Nursing Research College of Nursing is a small full-accredited private college specializing in quality nursing education since Currently the college offers both an undergraduate Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. Research College began offering a Master of Science in Nursing degree in The MSN Program offers six graduate tracks: Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gero Nurse Practitioner, Executive Practice & Healthcare Leadership, Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Leader, and RN-MSN. The Executive Practice and Healthcare Leadership track prepares graduates for as role as an executive in a variety of settings. 3 Dear Preceptor, Thank you for agreeing to serve as a preceptor for an Executive Practice and Healthcare Leadership student. The primary purpose of this program is to prepare and develop nurse leaders to serve in executive leadership roles. One of the main roles is the Chief Nursing Officer position; however, the track prepares nurses for leadership in a variety of roles. The Executive Practice and Healthcare Leadership (EPHL) track is offered entirely online with no on-ground requirements other than the practicum experiences. The final year of the EPHL track requires 2 practicum courses: NU 7210 Executive Nurse Practicum I (taken the first semester) and NU 7230 Executive Nurse Practicum II (taken the second semester). The number of contact hours required each week is 12 with a total of 180 hours of practicum time completed each semester. Generally, the semester consists of weeks of student activity. The student should assist with the completion of the preceptor agreement and also in answering other questions. Faculty is also available to assist in instructions for completion of information needed from you. One primary role of the preceptor is to ensure that the student has access to individuals who can assist them in learning about the content topic for the week. Generally, there is a different topic each week. The student may also participate in activities that are available and designed by the preceptor, such as special meetings, projects etc. Students are also required to complete a major project each semester. The student will provide more information regarding that assignment after the beginning of each semester. You will be receiving an from the faculty each Monday morning outlining the content and assignment for the week. This will include any other special instructions for the students that are needed. Please feel free to communicate with faculty any time and as often as needed either via telephone ( ) or . On-site visits are not made because of the online nature of the program and many students are out of state. Current license in state where practicum is located. 2. Master of Science degree from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited school. 3. Minimum of two years experience specifically in an executive role, CNO preferred but not required. 4. A Director level preceptor may be utilized for Executive Nurse Practicum I only, but must hold at least a MSN degree with 2 years experience in the role. 5. Well established in the clinical agency and can assist student in networking with professionals in other disciplines. 6. Experience mentoring new graduates and/or graduate level nurses and understands the implications of the role. 7. Time and resources to spend with the graduate student on selected days. 8. The student and preceptor employed at the same facility may not be approved. 9. Instructor must approve all preceptors prior to the start of each course.
