I was recruited to this position in Fall As coordinator, I was responsible for the program's budget, academic programming, community and outreach programs. I led the Women s Studies Program (WSP) Steering Committee, WSP student committee, coordinated WSP course scheduling across our three campuses, developed and offered WSP offerings such as: seminars, speeches, workshops, breakfasts, luncheons, scholarship program, awards program, as well as collaborating with outside organizations with like interests present Nutrition Consultant My independent consulting practice encompassed a range of activities including research & analysis, private consults, public speaking, corporate seminars, writing, presentation preparation, teaching, and marketing. Assignments included: Nutrition, weight loss and wellness consulting for private clients. Nutrition education speeches and continuing education programs for a variety of community and government organizations such as: University of Maryland, Medical School/ICD Program; Adventure Scuba, Inc.; BIA Financial Network, Frederick Community College, GEICO Insurance Group, Chevy Chase Athletic Club, National Association of Broadcasters, Stone Ridge School and to staff of the USDHHS; the US Navy Dental School and the Centers for Disease Control.

4 Page 4 of 9 Designed curriculum, and taught, three weeklong children s classes at the National Zoological Park, including one on animal nutrition; repeated course offerings for several summers; Conducted case studies of the Women, Infant, Children (WIC) program in Louisiana, Georgia and Virginia for the WIC Dynamics Study (as consultant to Urban Institute); also trained WIC Dynamics interviewers on nutrition aspects of program; Wrote script and recruited children for episode of Cooking Light with Ruth, a community cable television show. The segment features a pizza contest -- the winners had the pizza with more vegetables. Designed and scripted a slideshow for the Trimdown Program at the Providence Hospital Wellness Institute program; also facilitated weight loss and nutrition courses for Providence. Co-authored resource manual, Strategies for Increasing WIC Services and Resources, for the National Association of WIC Directors; Wrote chapters for training manual for the Community Childhood Hunger Identification Project. Acted as development specialist (fund raising) to the local agencies conducting CCHIP studies. Served as Washington D.C.-based representative to the Committee on Improving Breastfeeding Promotion Strategies in the WIC Program, writing research and policy briefs and meeting with policy-makers and staff. Designed and wrote materials for the Advocates for Better Children s Diets; Authored What You Need to Know About Food Allergies, for the National Restaurant Association; Editor of nutrition program materials for the American Association for Retired Persons;

Participated in management of a 40-day long feeding study of copper metabolism in elderly men, including: recruiting and selection of subjects; computer analysis of dietary intake data; designing food intake record forms; data coding and entry and analysis.
