3 Grant from US Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education to Institute on Disability & Community Coalition of advocacy, provider organizations & institutions of higher education; Expand number of colleges and universities; Partnerships across involved universities; and Data collection and evaluation Employment, social inclusion, life skills, etc. Primary Partners: Down Syndrome Indiana, Governor s Planning Council, Autism Society of Indiana, Arc, Families, INSource, Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, partner universities

Huntington University in Huntington Above 5 programs are for dually enrolled students 6. Vincennes University in Vincennes Will offer residential option. Students will room with non disabled peers. All students will be working toward Certificates in a variety of areas such as culinary arts or hospitality

8 Vocational Rehabilitation on Advisory Board Have had 1 VRC assigned to work with students All students are referred to VR for services As eligible for VR services, students are linked with Community Rehabilitation Program for employment services CHOICE! TEAMWORK Students are referred to BDDS [Bureau of Developmental Disability Services] for Medicaid Waivers As eligible for Waiver services, students are linked with adult service providers CHOICE! TEAMWORK

10 Location: Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI), an urban campus setting Began as an IUPUI & Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) partnership with formal MOU in our 9 th year Focus: Transition from school to adult life (Age 18-22) Program: 1-2 years individually determined

11 Presence/Participation with Typical Peers Access to Activities, Opportunities Typical Social Norms and Cues Valued Roles, Image Ongoing Adult Learning Close Access to the City of Indianapolis Sustainable Schedule/Day

14 Year-long planning process by team of key stakeholders visioning process. SITE students on Certificate of Completion track & still eligible for special ed services. High percentage of students living in poverty SITE option chosen by student and parents and pursued via application process. Student and parent required to visit campus prior to applying. Current students give tours.

15 Person-centered planning drives individualized schedule, course selection & activities. No program costs to students is our 9th year of operation. Push Back impact on high school programs! Raising the bar! Parent vision

16 16 dual enrolled students ages (with potential growth up to ~ 20) in Staffed by 2 IPS hand picked teachers, 1 assistant, & 1 part-time job coach also workstudy students. (Same teacher-student staffing as district provides to this population in HS).

17 Logistics Hire 2-4 IUPUI Work-Study students (part-time)/year. Engage School of Education peer mentor students 1:1 (Option for Service Learning course requirement). Convene Advisory Board: Campus reps (Student Life, Adaptive Educational Services), district, parents, faculty, VR)

19 25 Different Courses Taken Thus Far Including: Intro to Poetry, Intro to Computers, Education (Teaching All Learners; Trade Books), Marriage & Family Relationships, History of Rock and Roll, Contemporary Broadway Musicals, Art (Drawing and Painting), Intro to Theater, Intro to Film, PE classes (Weight Training & Conditioning, Fencing, Yoga, Pilates, Basketball, Aerobics, Tai Chi, Cycling, Conditioning, Zumba, Group Exercise)
