1 Program/Degree/Certificate SLO ASSESSMENT REPORT, SAC Division: Science, Math, Health Science Department:_Nursing_ Program/Degree/Certificate: Nursing; Associate Degree in Nursing Courses: Nursing Semester/Year: Fall 2012 to 2013 Faculty Members: Stacey bass, Rowena Coliflores, Becky Ettinger, Gina Giroux, Becky Haglund, Rosemarie Hirsch, Linda Horgan, Becky Miller, Dale Mixer, JoAnn Nick, Mila Paunovic, Alice Rehm, Brian Schroeder, Teresa Simbro, Mary Steckler, Robert Stucken, Institutional SLO Program SLO Method of Assessment Outcomes Plan for Implementation Reassessment Outcome Plan for Implementation Careers Students who complete the Registered Nursing Program will be able to function knowledgeably, safely, and effectively in nursing practice within a variety of health care settings and will be qualified for the licensure examination. 1. Pass Rate (85% of those graduates will pass on the first attempt) For the academic year of Fall 2011 to 2012: 92% of the graduates passed on the first attempt. Faculty will continue to utilize NCLEX test blueprint. The integration of simulation into the curriculum gives an additional opportunity for to increase critical thinking/clinical judgment. 1. Pass Rate (85% of those graduates will pass on the first attempt) For the academic year of Fall 2011 to 2012: 92% of the graduates passed on the first attempt. ParTest continues in each course. All exams are analyzed by nursing faculty with item analysis. Updates and changes are made accordingly. Continuation of standardized testing each semester has exposed the student to additional critical thinking situations, thus increasing their clinical judgment skills. Each graduate will have the opportunity to take a live NCLEX review course through Kaplan. 2. Course Retention Rate (80% of those who enter Fall 2011: : 78% (Trad) 71% (ECP) met in NRN 101/101L (Trad) and (ECP) - Fall 2. Students report that they did not understand the reality of the rigor of the nursing program prior to beginning classes and were not prepared or did not wisely plan study work and personal time. 4. Graduation Rate (85% of those who enter NRN 101 will 202) Of the 32 new who entered in (Trad) in 2011, 24 (75%) NRN 202 and The extended orientation was conducted. The length of time for this orientation was increased from 3 hours to 4 hours. There was increased emphasis on study skills and tips, test-taking challenges, and study material organization. Group activity was done to promote cohesiveness of the new and generate peer support. Faculty noted that this cohort of were on the wait list for some time with lower GPA s (average 2.3) 5.
