2 About Our Course: Begin your new career in the exciting field of Dental Assisting. Practicing dental professionals will train you to be a dental assistant in a unique 10 week program taught on Saturdays. This weekend program allows you to learn your new career while still working at your present job. A career of helping people improve their dental health will be rewarding and enormously satisfying for you. No two days will ever be the same and your job will continuously renew itself. Your training will include: Endodontics Crown and Bridge Orthodontics Restorative Impressions X-rays (digital and film) Suctioning Plaster Models Instrument Identification Insurance Front Desk Chairside Assisting Periodontics Pediatrics Dental Terminology Sterilization Oral Anatomy Oral Surgery Originally founded in Atlanta in 1987, Arlington Dental Careers has been training Dental Assistants since 2008 in the Chicago Area. We are one of the most compre-hensive dental assisting programs of its kind in the area. You will be taught not in a classroom but in an actual practicing dental office and learn from dental professionals who practice and teach the most current up-to-date methods. The job opportunities for trained dental assistants are excellent in today's marketplace. In most parts of the country, there is an acute shortage of dental assistants. An examination of the job listings on craigslist and the like will bear this out; there is always a continuing demand for well trained dental assistants. the course. Following your training in this ten week course, you will have the confidence and skills necessary to apply for these positions. Along with your diploma, we will provide a letter of recommendation and a summary of your training experience to those students with a 70% or above grade average for Part of your training will involve the Job Interview itself, how to prepare for it, how to dress, what to say, etc. So often jobs are lost during the first five minutes of the interview. We feel it is important to train you in this area as well so that you will stand out from the rest of those competing for that position. We advise area dentists of our classes so they are aware of the next graduating class, many doctors call our office asking for a list of our recent student graduates. We also inform our current class of any doctors needing Dental Assistants so that they may apply directly for the position. Many of our students have obtained jobs as dental assistants even before finishing the course. The starting pay scale for experienced dental assistants is considerably higher than non- experienced and most offices will not even consider anyone without any experience. We are often asked what a graduate from our course can expect to make in their first job. The answer depends on where the office is in the metropolitan area. Offices in these areas generally pay higher salaries than those in the rural areas. Graduates of our course have been averaging $10.00 per hour to start and more than 80% of our students become employed. We also offer free placement assistance service to help you in finding just the right job. Dentists call our office asking for our students and we will try to match the kind of office and location you are looking for! Another factor that is often overlooked is in the area of job satisfaction. We have heard many times over the years from our students on how much happier they are working in the dental profession as compared to their previous jobs. One student reported, "I beat out someone (for job) that didn't have the hands on I did." A parent of another one of our students thanked us personally for giving his daughter new direction and responsibility in her life. Are you happy in your job? If not then do something about it!! 3 Classes start in January, April and September. The only requirement is you need to be 18 years old. Tuition The tuition for the DENTAL ASSISTING course of study offered by Arlington Dental Careers is: $2, The course will run ten (10) weeks, eight classroom hours per week for a total of eighty (80) classroom hours of instruction. The program is taught in a practicing dental office by dental professionals. We combine classroom and hands on methods for a unique training using up to date methods. Our objective will be to teach our students to perform a multitude of duties as a dental assistant. This duties include but are not limited to; x-rays (digital and film), impressions, instrument identification, terminology, suctioning, passing instruments etc. The above tuition covers all costs for the course. Classes starting each September, January and April. These classes will be taught on Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm, some weeknights possible, current schedule is always available in school catalog. This will include lecture material as well as clinical "hands on" training and any supplies. Students should be a high school graduate and be 18 years of age by courses scheduled completion. The tuition fee includes all of the following: Free Rental Textbook: "Modern Dental Assisting Torres & Ehrlich, 10 th Edition (Saunders) to be returned at end of class Textbook: "Concepts in Dental Assisting", Richard Erickson, 3rd, Edition (DCI Publishing) All training and visual aids, materials and dental supplies used in the clinical training. Use of all equipment and instrumentation with actual "hands on" training during the course of study. Job referral and placement assistance. A Certificate in Dental Assisting, Dental Assistant pin, and a letter of recommendation outlining your training and experience will be awarded to all students who have attained a 70% or above grade average. This average will be determined by grades of quizzes, tests and exams both written and practical. Final Grade will be recorded as pass or fail. Actual clinical experience through our optional "hands on" training program in office, not a classroom. 3 P a g e

4 TUITION REFUND Policy: 1. Arlington Dental Careers shall, when a student gives written notice of cancellation, provide a refund in the amount of at least the following: a. When notice of cancellation is given before midnight of the fifth business day after the date of enrollment but prior to the first day of class, all application registration fees, tuition, and any other charges shall be refunded to the student; b. When notice of cancellation is given after midnight of the fifth business day following acceptance but prior to the close of business on the student s first day of class attendance, the school may retain no more than the application registration fee which may not exceed $150 or 50% of the cost of tuition, whichever is less; 2. Applicants not accepted by the school shall receive a refund of all tuition and fees paid within 30 calendar days after the determination of non acceptance is made.. 3. Deposits or down payments shall become part of the tuition. 4. The school shall mail a written acknowledgement of a student s cancellation or written withdrawal to the student within 15 calendar days of the postmark date of notification. Such written acknowledgement is not necessary if a refund has been mailed to the student within the 15 calendar days. 7. All student refunds shall be made by the school within 30 calendar days from the date of receipt of the student s cancellation. 8. A student may give notice of cancellation to the school in writing. The unexplained absence of a student from a school for more than 3 school Days/ Weeks shall constitute constructive notice of cancellation to the school. For purposes of cancellation the date shall be the last day of attendance. 9. A school shall refund all monies paid to it in any of the following circumstances: a. the school did not provide the prospective student with a copy of the student s valid enrollment agreement and a current catalog or bulletin; b. the school cancels or discontinues the course of instruction in which the student has enrolled; c. the school fails to conduct classes on days or times scheduled, detrimentally affecting the student..
