This tax levy of $73,060,898 for capped funds represents an increase of 4.5% over last year s tax extension. The tax cap limit is based upon the lesser of 5.0% or the Consumer Price Index of the prior year (3.0%) plus new construction. The total 2012 Property Tax Levy is $75,462,646, inclusive of the debt service levy. This amounts to a 4.0% increase over the 2011 tax extension. Suggested Board Action 1. 3 HINSDALE TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 86 RESOLUTION TO LEVY TAXES Resolution #12-04 WHEREAS, the Board of Education of Hinsdale Township High School District 86, DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois, is authorized by Section 5/17-2(2) of the School Code [105 ILCS 5/17-2(2)] to levy, by proper resolution, a special tax for educational purposes; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education is authorized by Section 5/17-2(2) of the School Code [105 ILCS 5/17-2(2)] to levy, by proper resolution, a special tax for operations and maintenance purposes; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education is authorized by Section 5/17-2(5) of the School Code [105ILCS 5/17-2(5)] to levy, by proper resolution, a special tax for transportation purposes; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education is authorized by Section 7-171(b) (2) of the Pension Act, as amended by Public Act [40 ILCS 5/7-171 (b) (2)] effective August 17, 1995, to levy a tax in an amount reasonably calculated at the time of levy to provide for the school district contributions under Section to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education is authorized by Section 5/ of the Pension Code [40 ILCS 5/21-110] to levy by proper resolution, a special tax for social security purposes; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education is authorized by Section 5/ of the School Code [105 ILCS 5/17-2.5] to levy, by proper resolution, a special tax for tort immunity purposes; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education is authorized by Section 20-3 of the School Code [105 ILCS 5/20-3] to levy, by proper resolution, a special tax for working cash fund purposes; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education is authorized by Section 5/17-2.2a of the School Code [105 ILCS 5/17-2.2a] to levy, by proper resolution, a special tax for special education purposes; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education is authorized by Section of the School Code [105 ILCS 5/ ] to levy, by proper resolution, a special tax for fire prevention, safety, and energy conservation purposes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Education of Hinsdale Township \files\tax Levy Resolution 1

4 High School District 86, DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois as follows: Section 1: For the ensuing year, the County Clerks of DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois are hereby authorized and directed to extend, and there is hereby levied, the following special taxes on behalf of this school District: a) The sum of $ 57,230,554 to be levied as a special tax for educational purposes; b) The sum of $ 9,676,569 to be levied as a special tax for operations and maintenance purposes; c) The sum of $ 1,772,694 to be levied as a special tax for transportation purposes; and d) The sum of $ 0.00 to be levied as a special tax for Working Cash purposes; and e) The sum of $ 965,611 to be levied as a special tax for Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund purposes; f) The sum of $ 925,858 to be levied as a special tax for social security purposes; and g) The sum of $ 676,710 to be levied as a special tax for tort immunity purposes; and h) The sum of $ 1,812,902 to be levied as a special tax for Special Education Program purposes; i) The sum of $ 0.00 to be levied as a special tax for fire prevention and safety purposes; Section 2: The amounts of money levied under Section 1, and as indicated on the Certificate of Tax Levy, attached to and made a part of this resolution shall be raised by special taxes for the various purposes as in the Certificate of Tax Levy indicated for the ensuing year. Section 3: The President and Secretary are hereby authorized and directed to sign the \files\tax Levy Resolution 2

Signed this 10th day of Dec (President) (Clerk or Secretary of the School Board of Said School District) When any school is authorized to issue bonds, the school board shall file a certified copy of the resolution in the office of the county clerk of each county in which the district is situated to provide for the issuance of the bonds and to levy a tax to pay for them. The county clerk shall extend the tax for bonds and interest as set forth in the certified copy of the resolution, each year during the life of the bond issue. Therefore to avoid a possible duplication of tax levies, the school board should not include a levy for bonds and interest in the district's annual tax levy.
