Phoenix Community College Adjunct Faculty August 2009 May 2010 Instructed students in the Interpreter Preparation Program and the Deaf Interpreter Preparation Program in a variety of skills and theories specific to the interpretation of American Sign Language (ASL) to English and ASL to Visual-Gestural communication or Signed English. Conducted in-class activities and presentations to introduce and reinforce skills and theories. Developed rubrics and provided feedback to students as necessary in order to 3

4 scaffold learning and prepare students for subsequent courses. Courses included: Consecutive ASL English Interpreting, Simultaneous ASL English Interpreting, Deaf Interpreter Field Experience and Deaf Interpreter Practicum Seminar. Northeastern University School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Boston, MA Lecturer January December 2007 Instructed courses: Interpreting Practicum, Interpreting Inquiry texts, and Interpreting Embedded Narrative Texts. Introduced all students to new materials related to ASL English Interpreting. Guided students to seek out answers to common questions about the interpreting process, business practices, and ethical practices within the field of ASL English Interpreting using current research in ASL Linguistics, Deaf Culture and Interpreting Theory.
