Limited places 200 persons Registration Eu$ 100 medical student -6º year Eu$ 50 Language English Promotion School of Life and Health Science, Minho University Portugal The Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS) is a research Unit launched in 2002, in the context of a novel medical school, the School of Health Sciences of the University of Minho, formally recognized by the Portuguese Foundation for the Science and Technology (FCT) in 2003, and granted with the grade of Excellent in 2003 and in 2008 by the FCT s International Evaluating Panels. The ICVS was created to develop biomedical, translational and clinical research with relevant impact at regional, national and international level. Brazilian Association of Gastric Cancer Founded on June 14, 1999, the Brazilian Gastric Cancer Association (ABCG), brings together experts in the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer, from all over the world. It is a multidisciplinary organization and includes clinical oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists and epidemiologists. Its main objective is the continued education in gastric cancer in all areas aforementioned, with standardization of surgical procedures, as well standardization of records and histological analyzes.

3 Real Portuguese Charity Hospital in Pernambuco In the mid-nineteenth century, cholera spread throughout Brazil and killed more than 100 people per day. The doctor José D'Almeida Soares Lima Bastos, then president of the Portuguese Reading Room, brought together members of the colony and founded the first Portuguese Beneficent Hospital of Pernambuco, which initially functioned as a center of resistance to treat victims of the epidemy. In 1855, began to attend the Portuguese Charity Hospital. The 16th of September was chosen for the ceremony of installation of the Hospital, due to the grand gala date for Portugal, in which they celebrated the ascent to the throne of King Pedro V, son of Brazilian D. Maria II. The Portuguese Charity Hospital installed in the neighborhood of Boa Vista was inaugurated effectivly on November 18, The Institution treated than 62 patients with cholera. In early 1856, José Bento da Cunha assuming the direction of the Hospital, received congratulations from the President of the Province of Pernambuco,, for services to the indigent population of the capital, without distinction of color or nationality. By license dated July 2, 1856, seeking the express support of the Lusitanian nation institution, the King of Portugal placed under its protection the Royal Hospital of Recife, honor confirmed in Subsequently, Permit November 7, 1907, granted by King Carlos I, confers the title of REAL, to the Portuguese Charity Hospital in Pernambuco, today the largest hospital complex in the North-East of Brazil. Braga Hospital The St. Mark's Hospital was founded in 1508 by the then Archbishop of Braga, D. Diogo de Sousa, with the task of replacing three small Albergarias that existed in the city. The management was handed over to the City Hall. In 1484, under the reign of John II of Portugal, Queen Leonor had founded the Hospital of Caldas, which would become the embryo of the Works of Mercy, which was to be founded in 1498 by the same queen and by her confessor and spiritual advisor, Father Miguel Contreiras, now under the reign of Manuel I of Portugal.
