2 INTRODUCTION (Revised September 2011) This directory is primarily a listing of chemical dependency service providers certified by the Washington State Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR). Agencies are listed alphabetically within each county. The index at the back of the agencies section provides an alphabetical listing of all certified agencies statewide. The appendices refer to other chemical dependency-related information and sometimes non-certified agencies. Please review your listing(s) and inform DBHR of changes. To submit changes, please use the Directory Change Form on page -x-. 9 DEFINITIONS OF CATEGORIES (Revised September 2011) Following are definitions of treatment services appearing in this directory and authorized by Washington Administrative Code (WAC) : INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE SERVICES ALCOHOL & DRUG INFORMATION SCHOOL INFORMATION & CRISIS SERVICES EMERGENCY SERVICE PATROL SCREENING AND BRIEF INTERVENTION SERVICES An education program about the use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs, for persons referred by the courts and others, who do not present a significant chemical dependency problem, to help those persons make informed decisions about the use of alcohol and other drugs. Response to persons having chemical dependency related needs, by telephone or in person. Assistance provided to intoxicated persons in the streets and other public places. A combination of services designed to screen for risk factors that appear to be related to alcohol and other drug use disorders, provide interventions and make appropriate referral as needed. These services may be provided in a wide variety of settings. ASSESSMENT SERVICES ADATSA ASSESSMENTS S Alcohol and other drug assessments of clients seeking financial assistance from the department due to the incapacity of chemical dependency. Services include assessment, referral, case monitoring, and assistance with employment. Diagnostic services requested by the courts to determine a client's involvement with alcohol and other drugs and to recommend a course of action. DETOXIFICATION SERVICES (Assists patients in withdrawing from drugs, including alcohol.) ACUTE DETOX SUB-ACUTE DETOX Provides medical care and physician supervision for withdrawal from alcohol or other drugs. Non-medical detoxification or patient self-administration of withdrawal medications ordered by a physician and provided in a home-like environment. S (Provides chemical dependency treatment to patients less than 24 hours a day.) INTENSIVE OPIATE SUBSTITUTION A concentrated program of individual and group counseling, education, and activities for detoxified alcoholics and addicts, and their families. Individual and group treatment services of varying duration and intensity according to a prescribed plan. Meets both outpatient and opiate substitution treatment service requirements. RESIDENTIAL S INTENSIVE INPATIENT RECOVERY HOUSE LONG-TERM A concentrated program of individual and group counseling, education, and activities for detoxified alcoholics and addicts, and their families. A program of care and treatment with social, vocational, and recreational activities to aid in patient adjustment to abstinence and to aid in job training, employment, or other types of community activities. A program of treatment with personal care services for chronically impaired alcoholics and addicts with impaired self-maintenance capabilities. These patients need personal guidance to maintain abstinence and good health. viii

These services have formerly been referred to as dual disorder or Mentally Ill Chemical Abuser (MICA). The adult residential treatment programs with the COD-MHC designation offer the following: 1) on-site mental health screening and assessments by a DBHR contracted mental health counselor (MHC), 2) access to psychiatric medication and medication management, 3) linkage to community mental health services, and 4) on-site co-occurring education groups. Indicates services are designed primarily for clients who are Native Americans. Indicates provider meets accreditation standards for the quality of health care in jails, prisons, and juvenile confinement facilities set by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC), 1145 W.
