At the end of the licensing period, it will be required to update the serial number to reflect the new ending date. Also, changes to licensed products will require the license server to be updated. Automatic Updating of the Network License file You should have received an updated license file. If the OLI Network License Manager is already running, copy the file to the same computer and then double-click the file (an example file is shown below): You may be prompted to allow this program to make changes to your computer. Please accept this action: OLI Tips - 1

2 A warning will appear to inform you that the program is to be updated: Click Yes. Another warning will appear to inform you that the service may be running. Click Yes A status window will appear informing you of the progress of the update: OLI Tips - 2

3 Click Close The program has been updated. You can verify that the program is running by using the OLI Network License Administrator. Starting the Network License Manager The version 3.0 license manager must be started. To do this, follow this path: Start > Programs > OLI Systems > Network License Server > Network License Server If the license server is running the window should look similar to this: OLI Tips - 4

5 You will need to stop the server before the update can take place. Click the Stop button. OLI Tips - 5

6 Replacing the Sever Serial Number and Product Data Replace the Serial number with the text found in the license text file. In our example the serial number: V2-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-0BBN will be replaced with the serial number: V2-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-7TT8 found in the license file illustrated above. Use the serial number provided in the line that starts with: Server Serial Number = Do not use the client serial number in this program. The updated window should now look similar to this: OLI Tips - 6

7 We are not done however. The product data also needs to be updated. This reflects any changes to the number of licensed products. Select all the data in the Product Data block and delete it. Insert all the data for product data found in the text file. In the above file, this product data is found between the tags [BEGIN PRODUCT DATA] and [END PRODUCT DATA] Select all the data between these tags (not including the tags). Click the Start button to restart the server. Updating the OLI Client Software A second serial number for the client side of the application has been provided in the license file. In our example this is found in the line: Client Serial Number = V2-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-QE6C OLI Tips - 8

9 The administrator has the option of updating this client serial number on each end-users computer. If no product changes have occurred for this update (adding or removing products) then the existing serial number on the client may be used and no further action is required by the administrator. If product changes have occurred then this serial number must be updated on each client installation. Follow the instructions in OLI Tips #42 to reset the serial numbers for the OLIAnalyzers, ESP and ScaleChem. Updating the client serial number for Aspen PLUS OLI To update the Aspen OLI Alliance suite you must start the OLIRegClientTest program. Aspen PLUS Start Programs OLI Systems OLI Engine in Aspen PLUS V7.X 1 Tools Security Settings and Test This should display the following window: Figure 1 the OLI Register Client Test program 1 X is the current Aspen PLUS version number such as V7.3 OLI Tips - 9

10 Click the Open Security button Next Click the Open About Dialog button. Click the Security Options button. OLI Tips - 10

11 Enter the client serial number provided in the license file. In our example this will be: V2-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-QE6C You can also update the network server name (our example is enforcer ) at this time if required. Click the OK button to continue. You will receive a message about restarting the applications. Click the Close button. This will return you to the OLIRegClientTest program. We must now close the program. Click the Close button. Restart the OLIRegClientTest program by following the AspenTech path above. We can now test to see if the change worked from the OLI side of the interface. Click the Open Security button. 12 The results box at the bottom of the window should give you a status report: Figure 2 Success! In order, click the Check Security and Close Security buttons. Each should pass if the installation has worked. Contact OLI Systems if any check failed. OLI Tips - 12

13 Updating the client serial number for Aspen HYSYS OLI Aspen Hysys OLI 7.X To update the Aspen OLI Alliance suite you must start the OLIRegClientTest program. Start Programs OLI Systems OLI Engine in Aspen Hysys 7.X Security Settings and Test This should display the following window: Figure 3 the OLI Register Client Test program Click the Open Security Button Now click the Open About Dialog button.
