1 DIIT IPDVS System Integrator Required Issued on 07/28/2014 Authorized Installer Required Standards In Effect When Released Version 6.1 Electrical Contractor Required A & E Consultant Informational Description This IPDVS advisory introduces the SONY SNC-WR600, a pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera to be installed as a replacement for the SONY SNC-RS46N and Panasonic WV-CW964, both of which have been discontinued by the manufacturers. To facilitate installation in the school environment, Anixter is providing the camera as part of a customized kit (Part # NYCS- SCW-KIT-WR600). When purchased as part of the customized kit, the effort required to install and configure the camera should be less than or equal to the effort to install the SONY SNC-RS46N or Panasonic WV-CW964. Specific Changes Setup-Menu items have slightly changed with model SNC-WR600. This advisory replaces pages in the IPDVS Standards Version 6.1. Sony PTZ Camera Programming ** Sony camera must be programmed using IP mode to turn analog features on (Baud Rate, Pelco D protocol, PTZ ID) ** Sony SNC-WR600 requires SNC Toolbox (device discovery) to be installed on a laptop from the software CD supplied with the camera. This software is also available for download at security/resource.downloads.bbsccms-assets-cat-camsec-downloads- SecurityDownloadsIPCameraTools.shtml 1. Install of SNC Toolbox software a. Configure laptop Network Settings using IP: Class C Private IP Leave default gateway: blank b. Locate the Sony CD and find the SNC toolbox folder c. Click on SNC toolbox_setup.exe file and install using defaults until finished d. Allow exception if prompted by the Windows Firewall and any Antivirus program that is installed on the laptop or desktop (Option: disable Firewall/Antivirus before installing) 2. Configure temporary access to camera menu by assigning temporary private IP a. Power camera on and connect camera Ethernet cable to laptop (allow 1-2 minutes for boot up to complete) b. Navigate to SNC Toolbox shortcut in Programs and click on it to launch software c. Click on Search heading or wait 1 minute to discover device SNC-WR600 Sony PTZ Camera Network Connection Setup d. Click on Use the following IP address (Assign Static IP, click Apply and OK, camera reboots (Sample Class C Private IP scheme used in figure above) Page 2 of 9

Assign static IP x.x.x.10 where the last octet 10 matches the PTZ ID assigned from the as- built information a. Subnet Mask: x.x.x.0 b. Default Gateway: your laptop IP c. Click Apply & OK d. Camera starts reboot process e. Exit out of SNC Toolbox 4. After 30 seconds use browser to log into camera 5. An ActiveX install occurs for the Sony Viewer 6. 5 DIIT IPDVS Serial Setting: RS485 Termination: Off Mode: Normal Camera ID: (PTZ ID) assign unique digit (1 to 255) Protocol: Pelco D Baud Rate: 9600 bps Parity bit: none Character Length:8 bits Stop bits:1 bit Click OK and the camera is ready for integration into the IPDVS system using the analog mode. It can be connected as usual to the Verint VPU/NVT or Verint VPU/CCTP chassis. Sony PTZ Camera Analog Mode Setup 8. Click OK to enable camera to communicate in analog mode 9. The Sony SNC-WR600 can now be integrated into the IPDVS Infrastructure by being connected to the Verint VPU and powered by the NVT ******* IMPORTANT NOTE ******** *** When installing more than one analog PTZ camera, Camera ID has to be unique. No two cameras can share the same Camera ID: (PTZ ID) *** (Refer to Section 6.2 on camera naming and numbering guidelines) *** If future access to the Sony camera menu is needed, use the SNC Toolbox repeating above steps 1-8 *** Page 5 of 9

7 DIIT IPDVS Video / Audio Picture Tab The Picture Tab allows the installer to set the color conditions, exposure, etc., of the camera. Picture Mode Set to Standard. Refer to Sony s User Guide for an explanation of the other settings. Exposure Set as shown above in the picture.
