1 Cambridge Judge Business School Further particulars JOB TITLE: REPORTS TO: INTERIM INFORMATION AND LIBRARY PROJECT COORDINATOR LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SERVICES MANAGER Background Cambridge Judge Business School pursues innovation through inter-disciplinary insight, entrepreneurial spirit and collaboration. Information & library services (I&LS) provide a specialist information and library service in the field of business and management studies to members of Cambridge Judge Business School and the wider University of Cambridge community. The service boasts a world-class range of business databases covering company and financial data, industry and market reports, global news and much more. Although most of the services are available electronically there are also staff in the information centre on the ground floor of the School. This is open 24/7 and as well as housing the books it also provides friendly assistance with information and data needs. The aim is to meet the specific needs of all user groups and the department committed to working flexibly and innovatively to achieve this. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Support of Executive MBA (EMBA) cohorts/answering complex enquiries Support in person, and remotely, of our high-profile/high-fee paying EMBA cohorts who expect the highest standards of service. Develop innovative online support services to enhance the experience of EMBA participants, taking advantage of technologies like Skype and webinars. Responsibility for answering research enquires by , by phone and in person from other members of the School and the wider University community, through expert interrogation of, and guidance on, our databases of company and financial, market research, industry, news, and bibliographic data. Deliver one-to-one support and specialist classroom teaching to support programme teaching and bespoke research support to individuals engaged in projects. 1

2 Service promotion through social media Promotion of information & library services activities, resources and remit through the following social media platforms: the information & library services blog, our Facebook group, Twitter. Exploration and evaluation of new social media channels and tools. Employing usability techniques, upgrade the I&LS blog to broaden its remit and audience, and to better serve the needs of its readership. Teaching/training Preparing and delivering classroom teaching and seminars on a wide range of information-related topics such as: market and financial resources; plagiarism and bibliographic software (Zotero & Mendeley); interview preparation; webapps; online identity; Prezi and other presentation software; social networking. Teaching on specific complex databases, such as Bloomberg and Datastream. Co-presentation of our numerous induction sessions. Teaching will require a blended learning approach incorporating hands-on, lecture-style teaching and interactive elements. Training sessions to smaller groups, and bespoke one-to-one consultations for individuals, booked in advance or on an ad hoc basis. Training and instruction of information assistants in new services and databases. Ad hoc one-to-one specialist enquiry Training sessions and bespoke one-to-one consultations for individuals, booked in advance or on an ad hoc basis. Resolving queries and issues, as they arise. Responding to complex and in-depth business information enquiries from users. Staffing of the Information Centre desk Limited staffing of our service point in the Information Centre. As well as answering enquiries from these points, this work will require some knowledge and operation of the Voyager circulation system. At certain times of year, the role-holder may be required to assist other staff with printed collection duties such as stock-checking and shelf tidying. Creation and delivery of user support materials As required to support teaching, learning and research. Acting deputy library and information services manager will maintain overview. Responsibility for a more embedded and curriculum-integrated presence on the various institutional VLEs especially for our EMBA and PDE (Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship) students. 2

3 User-centred services and user engagement initiatives User-centred services are a key function of engaged and innovative research libraries today and we see this role as a way of facilitating more user input in to the way we develop and deliver our services. Development of the existing designated support librarians initiative. Conducting usability studies and focus groups. Employing usability techniques, upgrade the i&ls webpages to better respond to the research needs of students. Acting deputy library and information services manager will maintain overview. The person The ideal candidate should have the following qualities, skills and attributes. You are asked to demonstrate how your own experience meets these requirements in the suitability for the role section of the online application form. Educated to Degree level or equivalent. LIS or related Masters desireable. Excellent customer service track record. An aptitude for developing and implementing innovative solutions. Experience in using social media platforms and exploring new social media tools. Experience in information and library services environment. Business information experience desireable. Excellent all round written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in delivering training sessions; Excellent presentation skills. Excellent telephone manner. Self-motivated, able to multi-task and with a track record of delivering to tight deadlines without compromising on quality. Benefits Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook. This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week. Holiday entitlement is 28 days per annum plus eight days of public holidays. There will be a six-month probationary period. The salary will be in the range 27,057 32,277per annum. This is a temporary post for five months. Consideration will be given to internal candidates wishing to apply for a secondment opportunity. The full incremental salary range for the position is advertised in order to demonstrate the progression for the Grade. In the majority of cases appointments will be made at the Grade minimum; only in very specific exceptional circumstances can a higher salary be offered.
