1 SEARCH COMMITTEE NOMINEES - DEAN OF TED ROGERS SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT [Note: This is not a complete list of nominees as some did not submit their bios.] SCOTT ANDERSON Professor, Department of Finance Scott holds a LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School. He also has an MBA from Queen s University as well as a PhD in Finance from the Schulich School of Business at York University. He worked 4 years for one of Canada s major financial institutions in its legal department. Scott has been at Ryerson since His research interests include entrepreneurial finance, executive compensation, corporate governance and structured products. The paper he co-authored, Incentive Fees, Valuation and the Performance of Labour Sponsored Funds won the 3 rd Annual Barclays Global Investors Canada Research Award. He has taught many of the finance courses offered in the undergraduate program and occasionally he has taught finance in the MBA program. MELANIE DEMPSEY Associate Professor Department of Marketing Melanie completed her PhD at the University of Toronto s Rotman School of Management and in 2005 she joined the Marketing faculty at Ryerson University. She would like to briefly outline a few qualities that she believes make her a good candidate for the search committee for the new Dean of TRSM. She has played an important role in the recruitment process in her department and has taken a leadership role in developing new courses in their new curriculum. She believes that integrating research and teaching is critical to the success of the new curriculum. To enhance the reputation of the University she has participated in a number of media interviews related to consumer behaviour. However, she states that her most rewarding service component is her long-standing involvement as faculty advisor to both current students and alumni. As a bridge between faculty interests and requirements and those of our students, she believes that she would bring a unique perspective to this committee.

2 YOUCEF DERBAL Associate Professor, Information Technology Management Youcef Derbal is an Associate Professor at the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management. He received a Doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Queen s University. Prior to joining Ryerson University in 2003, Dr. Derbal worked in robotics & automation, telecommunications, and software & computing industries. He is interested in the study of complex adaptive systems and their computational modeling and simulation. KELLY MACKAY Professor, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Director, Ted Rogers Institute for Tourism & Hospitality Research Dr. Kelly MacKay recently moved to Ryerson University, Ted Rogers School of Management as Professor, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and Director, Institute for Tourism and Hospitality Research. Previously at the University of Manitoba for 17 years, she held various leadership roles as a program chair, research institute director, and most recently Associate Dean Academic. Until 2007she held a joint research appointment with Parks Canada for which she did extensive study of nature and heritage tourists related to destination image and marketing, information search and processing, and special interest tourism. Her recent research includes information technology and tourist experience (SSHRC), and enhancing rural livelihoods through community tourism in Uganda (CIDA). She is a board member for the Travel and Tourism Research Association Canada and on the editorial board of the Journal of Travel Research. Prior to receiving her Ph.D., Kelly was a marketing manager with Alberta Tourism.

3 DAVID MARTIN Director, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Interim, Director, Retail Management Dr. David Martin s teaching and research expertise is in Customer Service Management, Business Simulations and Culinary Tourism. He is a member of the ORHMA Advisory Council, the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council, the Canadian Hospitality Foundation, and an OTEC Board Member, Editorial Advisory Member for the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and a Canadian Lodging News Editorial Advisory Council Member. MAURICE MAZEROLLE Associate Professor Interim Chair, Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources Dr. Maurice Mazerolle is an Associate Professor in organizational behavior and human resource management. He is currently the Director of the Centre for Labour- Management Relations as well as the interim Chair of the Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources Department in the Ted Rogers School of Management. Prior to this, Dr. Mazerolle has held a number of faculty appointments within the Ted Rogers School of Management including Director of Research and Director of Student Affairs. In addition to these appointments, Dr. Mazerolle was a member of the Senate for four years and on the Board of Governors for four years as well. While on the Senate, Dr. Mazerolle was a member of the Presidential Search committee following the departure of Dr. Lajeunesse. His major areas of research interest are in conflict resolution, employment adjustment, youth health and safety, employee voice mechanisms and progressive human resource management practices.

4 BERNIE McEVOY Professor, Accounting and Finance Hospitality and Tourism Management Bernie McEvoy is a Chartered Accountant by profession and has more than 30 years teaching experience at Ryerson. He served on the search committee that appointed Stan Heath to the Dean's position and would like to offer his years of experience and service to the upcoming dean's search committee. CATHERINE MIDDLETON, B.A., MBA, Ph.D. Professor, Innovation and Organization Theory, MBA/MMSc program, and Communication and Culture Master s Program For further information, please click on the following link: ROY MORLEY Professor, Marketing, Business Management Dr. Roy Morley (PhD, MBA, BSc, MCIHT, PEng.) is a Professor of Marketing in TRSM. He joined Ryerson in In 2011 he received the Dean's Teaching Award. He has served on numerous committees, including search committees, has been faculty advisor to many student groups, interim chair of a school, chair of marketing, etc. He is a member of the marketing department s DHC, DEC, and IAC. While at Ryerson, he has also taught at The University of Toronto on the BCom, MBA, and MMPA programs, and on the MBA program at the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University. Roy recently authored the final report of the TTC s Customer Service Advisory Panel. He is currently working with another professor on a joint TTC/Ryerson research project, the objective of which is to analyze 500,000 customer complaints received over the past 15 years. For the past 18 months Roy has taken the lead role in the formation of the Credit River Probus Club, as its founding President. The club provides activities and meetings for 150 seniors. There are 30,000 members in Canada and clubs worldwide.

5 SERGIY RAKHMAYIL Professor Department of Finance Sergiy Rakhmayil has been teaching at Ryerson since 2005 at the undergraduate and graduate levels and holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Manitoba. Sergiy has produced tangible results in research, including ten peer reviewed journal papers. Sergiy's teaching record contains pioneering i-clickers classroom response system and active learning methodology in Finance classes, which has significantly improved student engagement and performance. Sergiy has experience serving on various committees at all levels of the University, including Ryerson Senate, TRSBM Council, and several other committees such as three Associate Dean search committees. As a TRSM Dean search committee member, Sergiy Rakhmayil will do his best to find the finest candidate capable of maintaining AACSB accreditation and further improving research and teaching profile of the business school. OZGUR TURETKEN Professor Business Technology Management Ozgur Turetken, Ph.D. (Oklahoma State University) is a professor and associate director at TRSITM. Prior to joining Ryerson in 2006, Ozgur served on the faculty of Temple University for 6 years. Dr. Turetken s research on information organization and presentation and its effect on decision effectiveness has been published in high-level international journals and conferences, and has been funded by NSERC, SSHRC among other agencies. Ozgur is also a recipient of Ryerson SRC award in He is active in various research communities as an editor, special interest group officer, program committee member, and track chair. He has developed and taught many undergraduate and graduate courses, and supervised several theses, and served in many committees at the departmental, faculty and university levels at Ryerson. His service contributions at Ryerson have been recognized by the 2010 TRSM Service Award.

6 PHILIP WALSH Associate Professor Entrepreneurship and Strategy Phil Walsh is an Associate Professor in the Entrepreneurship and Strategy department and has been with the Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM) since 2006 having previously been at the University of Surrey School of Management as the MBA Program Director and Chair of the Board of Studies. He is a member of the Ted Rogers School of Business Management Council and Vice Chair of his Departmental Council. Phil is a member of the Yeates School of Graduate Studies and is involved with Ryerson's MBA program. Prior to joining the academic ranks, he spent 22 years in industry as a management consultant, senior executive and geoscientist in extractive sector firms.
