6 Community Engagement: Small Business Development Center Small Business Development Center Serves to guide small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs by offering: Consulting & Coaching Hands-On Training Seminars Access to Cutting Edge Market Research Advertising & Design Free Legal Advice The Government Procurement Assistance Program Business Incubation Program to house start-up businesses Access to funding opportunities

7 Community Engagement: Small Business Development Center Business Incubator Program internship-consulting and assisting with operational, administrative, and marketing needs of start-up businesses Legal Clinic internship-assist with small business legal issues under the supervision of a practicing attorney/ instructor Creative Department internship- assist clients with brand identity development, graphic design, copywriting, advertising, public relations, photography and marketing Environmental Engineer internship-assist the Environmental Specialist in researching regulations applicable to clients

8 Engagement: High Tech Economic and Workplace Development Center for Design+Innovation (cd+i) The cd+i is home for a dynamic mix of scholars, students, designers, engineers, entrepreneurs and scientists who are pursuing breakthrough ideas by collaborating with various stakeholders to address pressing societal challenges by creating solutions that are economically sustainable, environmentally responsible and humanly satisfying. InciteXchange: Annual conference hosting international leaders in the fields of design, innovation, management and technology gather in Philadelphia to exchange ideas about their work, their thoughts and observations.

9 Engagement: Local Business Leaders Business Leadership Forum (BLF) BLF meets annually to discuss important, emerging topics that have a direct impact on business education, on business practices and on society in general. The BLF serves as a vehicle to engage Fox School external stakeholders and business leaders in meaningful dialogue to provide feedback to the Fox internal strategic planning process.

10 Engagement: Experiential Learning Enterprise Management Consulting (EMC) Student teams help local, regional and national firms explore new business opportunities and integrate course work, business experience, and primary and secondary research into highly professional market entry strategies and business plans. The Temple MBA students produced industry analysis, market research (including a focus group), strategy recommendations and a high-level business case that contributed to a company-wide effort to develop a strategy dedicated to serving individual small business segments. 11 Engagement: Support of Entrepreneurship Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute Mid-Atlantic Diamond Ventures(MADV) provides support and connections to capital to early-stage innovation and knowledge-based businesses seeking financing. It is the only year 'round venture forum program in the Greater Philadelphia area and serves emerging firms throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The program has served about 40 high-quality entrepreneurs in life science, information technology and physical sciences each year.

12 Engagement: Support of Entrepreneurship Annual Women s Entrepreneurship Conference Bringing together women business leaders to share their experiences with students and emerging entrepreneurs. Ethnic Entrepreneurship Conference

13 Engagement: Social Enterprise Enterprise Management Consulting (EMC) Working with social entrepreneurs to address social needs by assembling the resources and teams required to build new, sustainable approaches that leverage economic and social incentives. Annual Social Entrepreneurship Conference attracting local entrepreneurs who balance the triple bottom lines of profit, people and place. Murex Investments: A series of local projects and internships for this social investment fund including the exploration of new business possibilities, due diligence in support of investments and the development of fundraising strategies for Murex s next two funds.

14 Engagement: Focus on Sustainability Sustainability Projects (A few examples) Philadelphia Mural Arts Program The Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) Heritage Conservancy Sustainability Woodlands Management Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program

15 Engagement: International Willis Research Network (WRN), the largest collaboration of academics and the insurance industry. United nations environment program finance initiative, a public/private partnership to addresses current and emerging sustainability issues concerning the global insurance industry. The Center for Business Education and Research provides assistance to regional firms who are targeting international markets.

16 Engagement: The Portfolio Approach Serves the greater community. Engages business community with both low tech and high tech solutions. Grows local entrepreneurship and contributes to innovation. Combine outreach and engaged scholarship. Elevate the Fox School s academic profile. Tenure Track and Non Tenure Track Faculty bring outreach experience to the classroom.
