The University of Missouri-Columbia, Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism, in the School of Natural Resources, College of Agriculture, and Food & Natural Resources is recruiting for the position of Teaching Assistant Professor. This position will be a 12-month, benefit eligible, professional (non-tenure) track academic appointment. The salary will be commensurate with rank and qualifications. Effective date of appointment: January 1, 2012, or as negotiated. The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism is among the oldest continually accredited programs in the United States. The University of Missouri-Columbia campus is 30,000 students located in central Missouri. Qualifications: Applicants must have a combination of education and experience in Sport Management. Supportive degrees in Parks and Recreation are required. Prior collegiate teaching experience is desirable. Applicants must possess, at a minimum, an earned PhD by the time of appointment. ABD candidates will be considered. Responsibilities: This is a growing and well supported program. Duties and responsibilities associated with this position are closely coupled with the creative and innovative delivery of leisure and recreation curriculum. Applicants must have a background and knowledge of leisure and recreation theory and at least one degree in sport management. The selected applicant will be expected to teach core undergraduate courses with a teaching load growing to 5-6 courses per year. Preference will be give to applicants with teaching experience across the leisure, recreation and supportive sport management curriculum.
