2 THE LOREM IPSUMS People Working Cooperatively is a unique -handicapped-accessible ramps FALL 2016 non-profit agency that began in 1975 as a way to help low-income elderly, disabled, and other residents of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky maintain their homes with critical home repairs and energy conservation services. People Working Cooperatively provides home repairs, energy conservation, and modification services to low-income homeowners and weatherization for renters. The focus is on basic living essentials such as heat, running water, working toilets, solid roofing, and other repairs that keep the home safe and habitable. -grab bars -bathroom modifications -kitchen modifications & more PWC has over 130 professional trained staff including both paid trades and administrative personnel. The staff members are trained, licensed, and bonded. Basic home maintenance services such as gutter cleaning and other small repairs are performed by our dedicated volunteers. Home Repairs & Services Emergency Home Repairs Emergency Home Repairs keep clients safe and secure in their homes. Services are limited to two emergencies per year. Emergencies are defined as situations that threaten a client s well-being, including, but not limited to: -Broken water lines or lack of heat -safety problems, such as electrical hazards -situations that could cause further damage to the home, such as a roof leak Critical Home Repairs Critical repairs are designed to correct defects threatening the safety of the occupants, integrity of the structure, functioning of the house, and/or the mobility of its occupants. Examples of critical repairs are: -roof replacements -plumbing system repairs -electrical service repairs -furnace replacements -accessibility modifications Home Modifications for Mobility Accessibility is an important part of PWC s mission. Modifications help some of our most vulnerable clients live safely in their homes and assist with their mobility and independence. Some of the modifications we can provide include: Energy Conservation Services Weatherization Qualified Duke Energy clients receive a professional clean of their furnace as well as a carbon monoxide check of all natural gas appliances. You will also receive energy efficient light bulbs and tips on how to keep your home more energy efficient. If needed, customers can receive a hot water heater tank wrap, pipe wrap, weather stripping, low flow shower heads and faucet aerators. Depending on your income and energy usage, you may also qualify for additional services including duct sealing and insulation. -Serves Ohio and Kentucky. Clients must pay for their own heat through Duke Energy Electrical Partnership Program (EPP) Designed for customers currently on the PIPP (low income payment plan) program. You will develop an action plan with the help of our staff auditor. -Reduce your need for electricity -Save on energy expenses-make your money count -Help you reduce growth of PIPP arrearage Participants in all weatherization programs may benefit from the following: -Energy Audit -Furnace cleaning and tuning -Installation of weatherization materials (when appropriate) -Compact fluorescent light bulbs -Health and safety check of all combustion appliances in home -Energy education tips

IMMEDIATE OPENING NOW FOR WEATHERIZATION PROGRAMS! Call Today! Volunteers The volunteer Department is open 8a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday to help clients and accommodate volunteer groups. Volunteer as an individual or as part of a church group, business, or civic organization. For more information on volunteering contact Aaron Grant at 513/ Some of the opportunities available are: Field Service-Help tackle our wish list of maintenance jobs and small repair jobs requested by clients. -Retirees welcome! -Flexible weekday schedule -Solid home repair skills required for some jobs -ALL repairs are done by Certified Technicians Home Improvement Saturdays This program tackles the overflowing wish list while fostering a sense of teamwork amongst volunteers. Many of the projects include simple yard work, and other jobs perfect for volunteers who may not have solid home repair skills! Home Improvement Saturdays are held on the Third Saturday of each month from 8:30a.m. - noon and other Saturdays as needed. Recently one of the biggest meals and transportation providers to seniors in the Northern Kentucky area closed its doors leaving many wondering what s next? Join us as we discuss the next steps with Northern Kentucky Area Development District s Human Services Specialist s Kelly Bond and the Aging Disability Resource Center Counselor Lisa Luke. The NKADD is a collaboration of local leaders and staff educating and empowering communities by implementing quality services through specific areas of expertise in: -Aging -Community Development -Human Services -Workforce Development Serving the Northern Kentucky communities in Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Owen and Pendleton counties. We will have a prize drawing for representatives highlighting senior engagement within their congregation, so bring some of your greatest stories to share!
