Project summary: This project is about developing new methods to work with in the class rooms. The main target group is the teachers; and the knowledge they obtain will be transformed into new lessons. This project will involve student mobilities. Age pupils Main objective: The LAPTOP project is about finding out when it is good/not good to use computers as a teaching tool and find methods on how to use computers as a natural tool in the common European classroom and across the European borders.

Project summary: Approach: Four themes and four workshops One theme for all workshops will involve presentations from the host school regarding the school education system. Autumn 2011: Workshop in Spain Theme: Share general experience and the usefulness of computers Spring 2012: Workshop in Sweden Theme: How can a computer make a student more independent and what platform is suitable for what? Create "new" lessons Autumn 2012: Workshop in Turkey Theme: First evaluation of new methods for lessons with laptop learning; feedback from students and a look at free software Spring 2013: Workshop in Poland Theme: Evaluation, working on learning material and preparation of the final report

Project summary: Examples of activities: teacher/student questionnaires exchange of experiences learn and practice new ways of teaching classes with laptops as a tool etc. student s will run their own minor transnational projects Expected results: Establish computers as a tool for the common European classroom and develop new methods for the use of laptops in school Create a blog as a platform for discussions about problems, benefits and exchange of ideas for teachers/students not only in the project but for all of those with interest

Project rationale: This project would give all of the participating teachers, participating schools students and all the colleagues a chance to exchange experiences with other schools, working together to create new working materials and new ways of finding a good sustainable solution to keep up with ICT development together. It would also prepare the students for the world of work when the students learn about the powerful medium of e-communication in an independent, democratic and critical way and through the just mentioned approach become "world citizens".

Project objectives and strategy: Student objectives: Social, intercultural contacts they do not have in everyday life Learning a foreign language: possibility to communicate in a language other than their mother tongue Prepare the students for the globalised world of work through the knowledge of modern ICT and its effects on society Possibility to effect future lessons Learn more about different cultures while visiting the other schools Teacher objectives: To provide comprehensive, validated support while striving to establish laptop learning in the classrooms To establish computers as an accepted learning tool in classrooms, just as a pen or books A project blog that will serve as a platform for discussions about problems, benefits, necessities in laptop learning for a common European classroom

European added value: International cooperation as part of ordinary education Better skills in foreign languages and an increased interest in learning new languages Common LAPTOP Educational methods A blog open for everyone Reduced risk of racism and prejudices and make all participants more open-minded

Impact: Students: Competence in other languages mainly English through all the work they will be doing in the small projects European identity and the feeling of fellowship with other students from other countries Preparation for the future world of work and higher education Giving new lessons with the LAPTOP as a natural tool A feeling of independence and the courage and confidence to work with people from other cultures

Impact: Teachers: European identity by working with colleagues at other schools in other countries A way to disseminate their results throughout Europe that they would not have had if they worked in a local/regional/national area A stronger confidence among all the teachers involved in this project gained by working in the "same world" to establish the LAPTOP as a natural tool Sustainable contacts with others and long lasting friendships across borders

Impact: Participating institutions: International influences by joining a transnational project A better and more varied way to use LAPTOP`s in school Motivated and more confident teachers/students by taking part inthis project and by learning and personal development Sustainable competence development for all teachers involved and students as well, through the LAPTOP blog A working manual/material to share to other schools and institutions A blog as a platform for future sharing of experiences and best practise lessons, solving problems, networking and developing new ways of working together Good PR for the school/municipality/region

Distribution of tasks: Partners hosting workshops: The partner hosting a workshop (Spain, Sweden, Poland and Turkey) is responsible for accommodation, transfer, the workshop programme and inviting the media. They are also responsible for evaluating the workshop and the distribution of specific tasks during the same semester. The host is also responsible for the creation, distribution and summarizing of project evaluation during the semester they host a workshop. The Polish project coordinator is responsible for the expectation form and evaluation form of the workshops and the student questionnaire. They will also create the strategy of on how to create a booklet.

Distribution of tasks: Local project coordinators are responsible for ensuring that: Activities and assignments are being implemented The staff, principal and students are involved when they are supposed to be Feedback is given in the right way at the right time to partners Local/regional dissemination Local project economy and administration The overall coordinator: Is responsible for writing the final evaluation and the final project report with the material gathered at the final workshop where all partners work together. The project coordinator has final responsibility for making sure that all partners contribute with what they are assigned to do. All partners are responsible for: Sending press releases about the LAPTOP project to local media Share all documentation and participate in discussions on the LAPTOP blog Implementation of best practice during lessons Involvement of the student s in the project and the small student projects Producing presentations and carry out interviews with teachers/students

Cooperation and communication: Tools for communication LAPTOP blog All teachers, students and principals in the local project groups can take part in it and they will be invited to join Others, teachers, principals and students that do not take an active part in the project will be able to take part in the project outcome on the LAPTOP blog Partners can write messages, post documents and pictures on the blog All the material produced will be gathered and saved in one place

Participant s involvement: Students involvement in the LAPTOP project: They will: Answer a questionnaire that will help develop good lessons and experiences on how to use LAPTOPs during lessons Work in small cooperation projects with other students from other partner schools Evaluate and present their experiences from the project during workshops Use the blog and build up a network that can be unreplaceable in the future Take part in and be part of the development of new ways of using LAPTOPs in their classrooms Be a part of the workshops and take part in the host schools lessons and make a presentation about their home school and present their own use of computers both during their spare time and during school hours

Participants involvement: Overall involvement of students/teachers: There are about 3-5 teachers in the project group of each school, but the idea is to spread the experiences to all teachers and students at school so that everyone can take part in the development and implement the new methods in the ongoing lessons Different students will go to different workshops Develop their English skills through online meetings for students through their small projects, writing and speaking with each other during the project and workshop meetings for the teachers during the project Teachers and other pedagogical staff: A PPT presentation about the LAPTOP project, the partner schools, students and staff will be presented to all schools in the beginning of the project All staff of the partner schools will be able to and invited to join the LAPTOP blog and thereby take part in the development of the project and its outcomes directly The participation in evaluations during the whole project and at every workshop All staff will take part in the new experiences shared by their colleagues and the local project groups at staff meetings The final product in the form of a booklet/pdf-file will be delivered to all staff and disseminated to other schools interested

Evaluation: Workshop evaluations During early Autumn 2011 an expectation form will be produced to find out what all participants expect of the workshop theme and the workshop host. The evaluation form will be used at every workshop and will contain the same questions to make the result easier to compare and they will build on the same questions as the expectation form. The evaluation form will answer questions to find out what was good, what could have been better and what to think about for the next workshop. By this we will all learn how to run an effective workshop and know what not to do. The results of the workshop evaluations will be displayed on the LAPTOP blog. Part-time project evaluation In the early start of the project a project evaluation form will be produced. This will be distributed and summarized at the end of each semester. The result will be displayed on the LAPTOP blog.

Evaluation: During early Autumn 2011 the students will start to work on their own projects and to finalize these projects they will produce an optional presentation form to be presented during workshop 3. It will contain a description of their project, the results of the project and an evaluation of the method of working with computers and students at other schools in Europe. Over all project evaluation During spring 2013 an overall project evaluation will be created. This will partly be in the form of a booklet/pdf-file and will explain the outcome of the project and will answer these questions for example: what kind of methods were developed what platforms and free software is good to use in education and when to use them how students can work together crossing borders in small projects implemented in different subjects and some examples on small projects carried out during the LAPTOP project

Dissemination and the use of results: Target groups for dissemination: All students/teachers at partner schools Other schools in the local/regional/national area Public in local/regional area Institutions and authorities in local/regional area Schools interested local/regional/national and European

Dissemination and the use of results: Plan for dissemination of project outcome and results: A presentation in English of the project plan and the project partners/schools will be produced before project start and this will be presented at the partner schools and to the local authority If the application is approved a press release will be sent to local/regional media and they will also be invited to each workshop The LAPTOP blog will be open for all to join and take part in and follow the project work. This will be spread through staff meetings, invitations and classes for students As many students/teachers/subjects as possible will be involved in the project through the LAPTOP blog, participation in workshops, small projects etc

Dissemination and the use of results: Plan for dissemination of project outcome and results: The evaluations during workshops and each semester will let all visitors of the LAPTOP blog know what is happening and when and where The presentations done by students as an evaluation/project report will be disseminated at all partner schools for all teachers and students to take part in and will be presented on the LAPTOP blog The final product, a booklet/pdf-file that will contain the outcomes/working material gathered through the whole project period will be disseminated in different ways. The booklet will be distributed to the partner schools, the staff and the students/parents We also intend to publish our project at the etwinning platform
