The RIBN program is 4- years in length with the student completing general education courses during Year 1, an Associate Degree in Nursing during Years 2 & 3, and a Bachelor s of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) degree during Year 4. Once a student has completed the Associate Degree in Nursing (Year 3) he/she has met the educational requirements to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN ). The first three years of this program are offered at the Main Campus in Jamestown and students may be required to travel to NC A & T while enrolled in the program. Students involved in the NCP RIBN program are subject to the academic calendar for GTCC and NC A & T during the dual enrollment period. Regulations, procedures, and course requirements are subject to change as necessary and without prior notice. Year 4 is completed entirely at NC A & T. Admission requirements for both colleges are due February 29, If you have questions, contact Jesse Cross at or , extension or Aleta Harper at or , extension GTCC also has a traditional two year Associate Degree Nursing option that has a separate admissions process. 3 RANKING CRITERIA Once minimum admission criteria has been met, students with the highest ranking points will be accepted. The exact number of RIBN students accepted depends on available space. The form should be completed by a primary health care provider within one year of admission and include immunization verification. The deadline for submission is July 7, Students must be CPR certified with BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association. No other types of CPR are accepted. If the student fails to submit immunization, medical forms, CPR certification, or proof of insurance by the deadline, the student will be dismissed from the RIBN program. The screening results will be evaluated by the contracted clinical agencies. The clinical agency may deny student participation at the facility in regards to a criminal background check or drug screen and in this case, the student will be unenrolled from the RIBN program. Guilford Technical Community College cautions applicants that a criminal background check will be performed by the North Carolina Board of Nursing prior to issuing a license, and a license may not be granted based on the criminal background check. Deadline date TBD. 5. Progression in the RIBN program is dependent upon completing required courses at the established level of proficiency. For nursing courses, student must achieve a grade of A, B, or C in order to progress. In addition, students who fail to meet student learning outcomes for the clinic nursing component will not be able to progress. 6. Nursing students must have a C or better in Anatomy and Physiology I & II in order to graduate.

5 10. Students must successfully pass the NCLEX-RN exam and receive a license as an RN before beginning classes in Year 4 at NC A & T. 11. The licensing board does require information regarding conviction of a felony and/or misdemeanor and/or current charges on the application for licensure and MAY DECIDE NOT TO LICENSE an individual based on the result of an investigation of those particular charges. Important Note to all GTCC Nursing Applicants The GTCC Nursing Program faculty reserves the right to revise or change course requirements in accordance with applicable state laws, Board of Nursing requirements, college requirements, and /or at the discretion of the Nursing Faculty. By accepting admission into the Nursing program, the student agrees to at all times abide by the Nursing Program requirements and procedures as set forth in the Nursing Student Handbook and the respective nursing course syllabus issued at the beginning of each term for each course. Such student is bound by such requirements and procedures regardless of whether they were established before or after the date of enrollment in the Nursing Program. Changes made after the publication of the Handbook will be posted as an Addendum to the handbook.
