At the end of the Free Trial period, HCCU will no longer be covering the cost of your ID Protect Platinum subscription and Deluxe Provent will start billing for your identity theft protection plan. By December 29th, you will need to make an election to stay with the Platinum package, move to one of our other Deluxe packages, or opt out of the Deluxe program. On January 1st, as an added account bonus, the ID Restoration package will be provided FREE to all members with an active checking account in good standing with the credit union who have not made a previous election. At this same time, Deluxe Provent service will be canceled for all non-checking account members who have not contacted HCCU to make a plan election. You can make an election or change your chosen plan by contacting HCCU at , sending an to Member Services at mbrsvc@hccu.coop, or visiting the Deluxe Provent Page on the HCCU website and submitting your Election Form If you have already made your election, congratulations! SRP ATMs Are No Longer Surcharge Free for HCCU Members As of December 31st SRP will no longer be waiving its ATM surcharge for HCCU members. Please be aware of this change when using any SRP machine. 4 Employee Spotlight Mercedes Petkus joined HCCU in June of this year and has quickly made herself an invaluable part of the HCCU team. She is Branch Manager of our Harper St. location, and her responsibilities include ensuring an excellent member experience within the branch, and recommending products and services that will benefit individual members. She is also tasked with coaching and mentoring staff, and day to day operations of the Harper St. location. She is a resident of Grovetown GA, and comes to HCCU with over 20 years experience in the finance industry. 5 Did You Know? These questions are taken from Member Satisfaction Surveys collected at the end of each month. We use this section to address questions or concerns that have come up over the past few months in hopes of promoting member awareness about all the products and services HCCU has to offer. Q: Do you offer Christmas Clubs and other club account options? A: Yes, credit unions pride ourselves on offering our members a variety of savings options and ways to watch your bottom line. One way we help you do that is with Christmas and Vacation Club accounts. Members are able to have funds direct deposited into their Christmas or Vacation club each pay period. With direct deposit you are forced to save, so you are prepared when the Holidays or Vacation time rolls around. With a Vacation Club you can make one withdrawal any time of the year. Christmas Club accounts automatically roll into your savings account on the 2nd Tuesday of each November. Any withdrawal made from a club account above the one a year allotment is assessed a $10 fee. Q: I thought Mobile banking was coming in the 4th quarter of this year, what happened? A: Mobile banking has been delayed slightly for further testing. We want to ensure that when it goes live everything is running smoothly for you, our members. When it launches, late in the 1st quarter of 2015, our Mobile Banking app will be connected directly to our computer system. That means Mobile Banking will be able to function independently of Online Banking, making it a great resource in the event of an Online Banking outage. You will also continue to have real time transactions and account updates. We believe that Mobile Banking will help make doing business at HCCU more convenient, and offer you the flexibility you crave. We are very excited about offering you this new service, and are looking forward to it as much as you are. Q: How does Overdraft Privilege work, and is it on my account? A: If you open or already have an active checking account with HCCU that is in good standing, you are automatically eligible for the Overdraft Privilege Service. You do not have Overdraft Privilege on your account however, until you receive written confirmation from us that it has been added. Fresh Start accounts begin with a $100 Overdraft Privilege limit, and all other checking accounts start out with a $500 limit. This limit is granted at the credit union s discretion and can be reduced or taken away if you are found to be abusing the program. Overdraft Privilege helps protect you against having your items returned in the event of an inadvertent overdraft of your account by giving you a reserve for emergencies or unexpected situations, a kind of safety net for your checking account. There is no fee for having this privilege on your account; you are only charged if you overdraw your account. Overdraft Privilege is not a line of credit. You will still receive an overdraft fee for each item that comes through while your account is negative, but your items will be paid and you will not incur any additional fees with the merchant. You must opt in to payment of overdrafts on your ATM / Debit card, otherwise they are not covered by the Overdraft Privilege Program. ATM machine receipts, and other ways in which you can get available balance information, will show only your ledger balance without the Overdraft Privilege included. However, you will be able to withdraw funds from the ATM and have transactions approved for ATM and debit card transactions, even though it will overdraw your account if you have given us prior consent. You will be charged the overdraft fee of $35 associated with these transactions. 6 Happy Holidays from HCCU! We have had a busy holiday season this year, spreading cheer in the community! Here are a few pictures of our HCCU Elves and families out and about at recent events. On December 5th we worked the phone bank at the Cares For Kids Radiothon benefiting the Children s Hospital of GA. On December 6th we had a booth at the Christmas in the Park Festival in Evans Town Center Park. We helped children decorate Holiday cards to be donated to the veterans of the GA War Veterans Nursing home. Staff delivered the cards to the Veterans on December 10th.
