7 Program Delivery Competitive Call for Proposals: Innovative ideas to address identified risks and capability gaps Community Development: Action-oriented communities of practice to build Canadian capability through studies, workshops, exercises and technology acquisitions Support to Operations: Science and technology deployed or reach-back support to operators and end-users Targeted Investments: Projects targeted to assess potential solutions to address capability gaps 8
8 Canadian Network for Public Health Intelligence (CNPHI) Web-based, real-time syndromic surveillance, intelligence exchange and response tool for critical public health events Initial demonstration supported by DRDC CSS programs Now fully operational at Public Health Agency of Canada and used by 90% of Canadian public health authorities International and cross border links into the US and licensed to Mexico Possibility of a continental multi-hazard surveillance capability Based on this success CFIA has developed Canadian Animal Health Surveillance Network with our support 9
9 Med-Eng EOD 9A Helmet Supported by DRDC CSS funding, Allen-Vanguard partnered with the RCMP, DRDC Suffield, and the Royal Military College The 9A is the world s first Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) Class A Helmet Also protects technicians from blast, chemical and biological (CB) agents Extensive, full-scale blast and simulated CB agent testing, as well as performance and reliability tests The helmet is a component of the most widely used EOD suit in 120 countries. 10
10 Multi-Agency Situational Awareness System (MASAS) Based on Open Architecture and Open Standards Co-led by DRDC CSS with governments and industry OA Visualization/Decision Support System for Coast to Coast Emergency Management and into US via IPAWS Rapid deployment to over 200 Canadian responder agencies Linkage with US system identified in Beyond the Border Action Plan Multiple cross border exercises completed and planned 11
