2 KRS Annuall A salaries of certain i county officers ffi The county judge/executive, clerk, jailer who operates a full service jail, and sheriff shall each receive a monthlyy salaryy of one-twelfth ((1/12)) of the amount indicated by the salary schedule in KRS Slide 2 of 18

9 And Deputy The fiscal Th fi l courtt off any county, t or the th legislative body of a consolidated local government, charter county government, urban-county government government, or unified local government may compensate coroners and deputy coroners an additional amount of up p to three hundred dollars ($ ($300)) pper month as an expense allowance. 10 And Deputy The initial course of continuing education required i d under d subsection b ti (1) off thi this section shall consist of a basic training course prescribed by the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. Cabinet Annually thereafter the coroner shall attend and successfully complete at least eighteen (18) hours of approved pp trainingg in order to be compensated in accordance with subsection (1) of this section. 11 And Deputy If a deputy coroner assumes the office of coroner after receiving the training stipulated in this section, the deputy coroner shall be compensated in accordance with the compensation schedule set forth in subsection (1) of this section. i Slide 11 of 18

12 And Deputy The number of deputy coroners in a countyy shall not exceed one (1) ( ) for each twenty-five thousand (25,000) inhabitants, or fraction thereof, according to the most recent federal census, but every coroner may, subject to the approval of the legislative body of the county, consolidated local government, charter county government, urban-county b government, or unified local government, appoint additional deputy coroners, regardless of population. 13 (6) Magistrates and Commissioners J Justices of the ppeace servingg on a fiscal court in any county, and county commissioners serving on a fiscal court in any county other than one containing a city of the first, second, third, or fourth class, shall be paid for their services, out of the county treasury, not to exceed the maximum i compensation i allowable ll bl under d KRS ( cont. cont ) Slide 13 of 18

14 (6) Magistrates and Commissioners The fiscal court shall fix the amount to be received within the above limit, but no change of compensation shall be effective as to any member of a fiscal court during his term of office. ( cont. cont ) Slide 14 of 18

15 (6) Magistrates and Commissioners The compensation of county commissioners serving on fiscal courts in counties containing a city of the first class shall not exceed nine thousand six hundred dollars ($9,600) per year; in counties containing cities of the second class it shall not exceed nine thousand dollars ($9,000) per year; and in counties containing cities of the third or fourth class it shall not exceed twenty percent (20%) more than the annual compensation paid in the county for the calendar year immediately preceding 1974; and all of said annual salaries shall be payable monthly. 16 (6) Magistrates and Commissioners Justices of the peace and county commissioners shall not receive anyy compensation for their services on the fiscal court, other than as provided by this section; provided, however, justices of the peace and county commissioners may receive no more than three thousand six hundred dollars ($3,600) annually or three h d d dollars hundred d ll ($300) per monthh as an expense allowance for serving on committees of the fiscal court. 17 (6) Magistrates and Commissioners The fiscal court shall fix the amount to be received within the above limit, but no change of compensation except as provided in KRS shall be effective as to any member of a fiscal court during his term of office. Slide 17 of 18
