2 Patricia Sengstack DNP, RN-BC, CPHIMS CNIO, Bon Secours Health System Dr. Sengstack is the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer for the Bon Secours Health System and is the former Deputy CIO and Chief of Clinical Informatics at the National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Sengstack has her DNP from Vanderbilt University and a Master s in Nursing Informatics from the University of Maryland and is currently serving as the Immediate Past President of the American Nursing Informatics Association. Dr. Sengstack has multiple informatics publications, and most recently has published a Sigma Theta Tau book titled, Mastering Informatics: A Healthcare Handbook for Success. She is currently on the faculty at Vanderbilt University and teaches informatics at the masters and doctoral levels. Her focus over the last several years has been health information technology s impact on patient safety as well as building a program to improve the evaluation process of IT systems. In her current role at Bon Secours, Dr. Sengstack provides both strategic and operational nursing leadership in the development, deployment, optimization and integration of clinical information systems to support clinicians and patient care across an integrated healthcare delivery network as they strive to meet the goals of the Triple Aim.

8 Why you need to be at the executive table Most administrators are not well versed in informatics Decisions are made that are not based using the science and evidence of informatics practice and they can impact nursing care delivery and ultimately patient care The largest users of health IT are nurses. They need the leadership from doctorally prepared nurses at the executive table

14 Dr. Patrick Mattis DNP, MSCS, CNE, CCP, CPHIMS, RN-BC Rutgers School of Nursing Dr. Mattis is currently the Assistant Dean of Technology and Facilities and is responsible for academic, informational, instructional and clinical information technologies. He received his doctoral degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Nursing, with a focus on Leadership and System Management. His areas of expertise are specifically in Administration, Informatics and Evidencebased Practice. As Assistant Dean he has successfully managed the information and instructional technology needs across multiple campuses and community clinical sites at Rutgers/UMDNJ. As Faculty, he also mentors DNP candidates and MS Informatics students through the capstone and clinical experiences.
