Shin Community Relations Manager / Seattle News Viewers Start and End Their Day with KIRO 7 EYEWITNESS NEWS Seattle News Viewers Watch KIRO 7 Eyewitness News KIRO 7 Eyewitness News achieved significant wins among Adults at both 11PM and 4:30AM, according to the February 2012 Nielsen ratings survey. At 4:30AM, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News delivered an impressive 1.1 Rating/12 Share in the key Adult demographic. The 12 share among Adults at 4:30AM ranks at the top (tied for #1) when compared to all 4:30AM newscasts in LPM markets across the country. The 1.1 Rating nearly matches the combined performance of competing Seattle 4:30AM newscasts: M-F 4:30-5AM Local News Adult Rating KIRO 1.1 KING 0.8 KOMO 0.2 KCPQ 0.3 Page 1 of 6

In February 2012, KIRO 7 s share of the audience is up 33% from a year ago: M-F 4:30-5AM Local News Adult Share February '11 January '12 February '12 The morning ratings story continues into the 5-7AM time period where KIRO 7 Eyewitness News outperforms both KOMO and KCPQ in key demos: M-F 5-7AM Local News A25-54 Rtg. 3 KIRO 7 EYEWITNESS NEWS Is Seattle s Late News Choice Seattle News Viewers Watch KIRO 7 Eyewitness News at 11PM Just as Seattle news viewers choose KIRO 7 Eyewitness News at the start of the day, they make it their first choice at the end of the day. February 2012 Nielsen ratings show a #1 standing for KIRO 7 Eyewitness News at 11PM in the important Adult demographic: Monday-Sunday Late News Adult Rating KIRO-11PM 2.8 KING-11PM 2.5 KOMO-11PM 1.7 KCPQ-10PM 2.1 KONG-10PM KZJO-9PM February 2012 marks the fourth Nielsen survey in a row in which KIRO 7 Eyewitness News has ranked as Seattle s #1 late news. KIRO 7 Eyewitness News is the top rated late newscast both Monday through Friday and Monday through Sunday. Page 3 of 6

4 Seattle News Viewers are Watching KIRO 7 EYEWITNESS NEWS Seattle News Viewers Choose KIRO 7 Eyewitness News at Noon News viewership trends for KIRO 7 Eyewitness News are evident in other news dayparts as well. At mid-day, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News at Noon gained 3 share points from February 2011, which represents a 75% increase in just a year. The growth for KIRO 7 Eyewitness News comes at the expense of the only other noon newscast, KING 5 News at noon, which lost 3 share points, a 43% drop from the same point in time: M-F Noon News Adult Share 7 +75% 7-43% 4 4 KIRO KING February '11 February '12 This is the third Nielsen survey in which KIRO s 12-12:30PM performance outdelivered KING s 12-12:30PM rating. In February, KIRO 7 s 0.9 rating among Adults is 50% higher than KING 5 s noon news: M-F Noon News Adult Rtg. KIRO (12-12:30PM) 0.9 KING (12-1PM) 0.6 Page 4 of 6

5 KIRO 7 EYEWITNESS NEWS Provides In-Depth Coverage of Major Local News Seattle News Viewers Rely on KIRO 7 Eyewitness News This month, Western Washington was rocked by several major news stories making national headlines. The tragedies involving the Powell and Cox families, the avalanche that took the lives of local skiers, the murder of State Trooper Tony Radulescu, and a shooting at a school involving 3 rd graders were just some of the major news events that defined KIRO 7 s coverage. February also brought severe weather to the Seattle area, and once again, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News showed its dedication to covering storms, going on early in the morning and staying on when people needed to know what to expect in the forecast. The news affected our community in a deeply emotional way. KIRO 7 covered each event fully, with respect to the victims families and viewers, but at the same time uncovering more about each story daily. It was a month of breaking news and major events unlike any we ve seen in the Pacific Northwest in ages and KIRO 7 was there for it all. This month even included a Presidential visit and stops from his challengers. February of 2012 will long be remembered as a major news month that took the dedication of a team of journalists to bring the best coverage to its viewers. Our viewers know that when they turn to KIRO 7 Eyewitness News they will get the most upto-date news coverage on all the major news stories of the day, said KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Director Todd Mokhtari.
