3 The Italian gambling market. In 2009: Total turnover amounted to 54.4 billions Euros (+14,4% in respect of 2008) Online turnover amounted to 3.7 billions Euros (+153,7% in respect of 2008) State revenue deriving from gambling amounted to about 8 billions Euros

5 Current main provisions for remote gambling Decree of 21 March 2006: - remote betting, bingo and lotteries Bersani Decree (D.L. 4 July 2006, no. 223, converted into Law 4 August 2006, no. 248) and Budget Law for 2007: - remote skill games and card games Ministerial Decree of 17 September 2007: - remote skill games - centralised system - taxation: 3% GPT - winnings: at least 80% of the revenue

10 The Community Law for 2008 (L. 7 July 2009, no. 88) Implementing measures under notification process in accordance with EC Directives 98/34 and 98/48 to the European Commission Application process for a unique concession to all regulated remote games: - gambling company and/or other entities having the economic/financial and technical/organisational abilities required - HQ/Server located in the EU/EEA connected to the central system of the AAMS -.com operations prohibited
