Meet New Jersey s $4.9 billion industry Most people don t think about the economic impact of educating students. Maybe they should. With 17,500 employees and $4.9 billion contributed to New Jersey s economy each year*, the 14 members institutions of AICUNJ are the foundation for future growth and prosperity in our State. * Source: Education, Innovation and Service: The Economic Impact of New Jersey s Independent Colleges and Universities on the State of New Jersey, Appleseed.

WE save New Jersey $210 million each year Do the math. If every New Jersey student enrolled in an AICUNJ member institution switched to a public university or college, it would cost the state more than $210 million*. Your continued support of New Jersey s independent colleges and universities not only saves taxpayers millions, it adds $4.9 billion to our economy, produces graduates that can succeed in a knowledge-based marketplace and is the foundation for future growth and prosperity. * Source: The Report of the Independent Colleges and to the Governor and State Legislature 2008.

Our schools make quite an impact Most people don t think about the economic impact of educating students.

Building New jersey s Future AICUNJ schools invest more than $302 million in major construction. The 14 member institutions of AICUNJ spent $302.6 million on construction in 2008.* From new construction of residence halls and performing arts centers, to the renovation of athletic facilities, AICUNJ projects help support another 1,560 full-time jobs and play a vital role in ensuring the State s future prosperity.

Who s leading New Jersey s economic recovery? We are. Most people don t think about the economic impact of educating students.

PRIVATE = WEALTHY 87 percent of our students qualify for financial aid People often assume you have to be wealthy to attend an independent college or university in New Jersey. But look at the facts. 87 percent of students enrolled in the 14 member institutions of AICUNJ qualify for financial assistance.* Many are still the first in their families to achieve the dream of higher education. Preserving modest investments not only saves the State money, it ensures that bright, hardworking students complete their education and contribute to New Jersey s future prosperity. * Source: Independent College Fund of New Jersey ICFNJ Annual Report 2008.

Meet New Jersey s $4.9 billion industry. New Jersey s 14 independent colleges and universities are well known for producing great scientists, teachers and business leaders. But did you know that a new, non-partisan study identified independent higher education as an economic engine that can lead New Jersey s economic recovery? The independent higher education sector contributes $4.9 billion to New Jersey s economy each year by employing more than 17,500 workers, purchasing goods and services, undertaking new construction, and obtaining research grants that bring hundreds of millions into the State.* To learn more about independent higher education and its impact on New Jersey s competitive future, read the report at njcolleges.org * Source: Education, Innovation and Service: The Economic Impact of New Jersey s Independent Colleges and Universities on the State of New Jersey, Appleseed.
