1 2015 s For Workplace Injury Insurance Nova Scotians safe and secure from workplace injury

2 How to use this book Inside this book you will find the 2015 industry rates for workplace insurance. s are organized alphabetically by Industry or numerically by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code. This book is used as a guide to understanding industry rates. The rate an individual employer pays for workplace injury insurance includes an and may include an Experience Rating adjustment. In many cases, it also includes an Industry Safety Association levy. If you have specific questions about individual employer rates, please call us toll-free at s Employers are classified by industry using Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes. Published by Statistics Canada, SIC codes are a recognized standardized method of classifying employers. SIC codes with similar types of activity and cost experience are grouped into Industry Groups. Some large industry groups stand alone. Smaller industry groups get combined further into Groups, based on cost experience. This is the level at which s are set. Experience Rating Experience Rating adjusts industry rates based on an employer s experience. Like other forms of insurance, employers with higher claims costs pay higher premiums. Safety Association Levy The WCB collects levies on behalf of employers in several industries, to fund industry-based safety associations. Employers not in these industries do not pay a levy. Safety associations focus on improving the safety performance of the industry. For more information about how the levy is used, please contact your industry safety association. The levy amount included in this book may vary by employer. Individual employer levy rates are based on a percentage of the industry rate +/- the Employer Experience Rating. However, for employers in the fishing industry, the levy amount is a flat fee of $50, $100 or $200 based on premium size.
