2 ABSTRACTS Grzegorz Łukasiewicz MACROECONOMIC DETERMINANTS OF INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL QUALITY The article presents the concept of national intellectual capital based on a similar concept developed at the microeconomic level. A detailed analysis has covered the issues of defining basic notions, structure of intellectual capital and indicators used in its measurement. The final part of the article has discussed macroeconomic determinants of intellectual capital's quality. Keywords: national intellectual capital, structure of national intellectual capital, intellectual capital quality, determinants of intellectual capital Urszula Bukowska EMPLOYEE OPINION SURVEY ON SHAPING EMPLOYEE LOYALTY This article presents the nature of employee loyalty, focusing on its affective and behavioral aspects. Symptoms of loyalty are pointed out, with the reservation that the manifestation of the lack of loyalty that affects the employer the most is voluntary employee departures. In order to prevent them, steps are taken to recognize employee expectations. Several tools are used for this purpose, however, the research based on employee opinion survey is particularly effective. Keywords: employee loyalty, employee opinion survey, employee expectations. Aidar A. Ayupov,Olga E. Medvedeva, Michał Flieger APPLICATION OF INNOVATIVE FINANCIAL PRODUCT FOR INCREASE OF EFFICIENT REALIZATION OF LEASING OPERATIONS Contemporary organizations seek for new, innovative ways of building up competitive advantage. One of them is financing operations using new forms racing. Such a form is innovative leasing option which leaves the leaser the right to sell the leased equipment to the leasing company, which in turn is obliged to buy it. This way the risk for the company is smaller and the decisions to invest in such a way are taken more easily. The article deepens the topic showing advantages of such solutions to the companies. Keywords: leasing option, innovation, operations financing, competitive advantage. Sylwia Przytuła FLEXIBILITY - AS FEATURE AND ABILITY IN THE EXPATRIATE S QUALIFICATION PROFILE Increased geographical mobility, cultural flexibility, adaptability to different cultural conditions are demanded the most often from expatriates, i.e. the employees sent by

3 corporate headquarters to work in foreign subsidiaries. The goal of this article is to present the flexibility (in terms of skills and personality traits), as a component of the expatriate s qualification profile and to present the forms of foreign assignments which are alternative to traditional expatriation (flexpatriate contracts). Keywords: expatriate, flexibility, flexpatriate. Dariusz Danilewicz ANALYSIS OF TRAINING SERVICES MARKET IN POLAND Many documents and initiatives at a government level emphasize the necessity of a society and a country to develop further basing on education, digitization and innovations. The article concerns the first of mentioned factors, i.e. the education market, and even more the training services market in Poland. Its aim is to show the size of such a market and to present basic analysis of competitiveness. A definitional chaos connected with determining the range of training services market as well as with a definition of a training institution does not contribute to the construction of unified strategy directed towards such a market (this constitutes the first part of the article). In a further part a size of geographical difference of the training market, its disintegration, a local character in the activities of most of training institutions as well as product differences are presented. Keywords: training market, training, training institution. Aleksander Gwiazda SYSTEM APPROACH CONCEPT AS TEACHING TOOL OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT FUNDAMENTALS This paper presents the concept of a systemic approach in teaching the fundamentals of strategic management. Basing on the traditional typologies of organizations strategies the general map of strategies was proposed aiming to introduce students to the problems of strategy selection. As the tool for ordering the map of strategies the SWOT/TOWS matrix has been selected. The part of the particular strategies has been taken from typologies of Porter, Bowman and Ansoff. Basing on these typologies two versions of the map of strategies were developed. The first one includes 9 specific strategies and the other The strategies are grouped into four groups: aggressive strategies, conservative ones, competition ones and recovery ones. The developed maps of strategies allow more flexible analyzing of the strategy selection process and the relationship between them and their evolution. Keywords: map of strategies, fundamental strategies. Vladimiras Grazulis CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES FOR HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (LITHUANIAN CASE) The article discusses peculiarities of human resource management in the context of contemporary challenges, investigates relations between the elements of the internal environment and challenges for human resource management. The author of the article

4 believes that scientific publications on human resource management still do not pay enough attention to certain elements of management process, i.e. proper systematization of organizational goals, perception of organizational management structures in the new environment, etc. Management practice of staff selection is characterized by the tendency of the organization to dominate, meanwhile the expectations of the candidate are very often sacrificed, and little interest is shown in the development of the sense of loyalty in new employees. The author acknowledges that due to ever-increasing competition organizations cannot ignore the changes that are happening, and on the basis of his researches he identifies the obstacles which hinder many Lithuanian organizations from participating in the contemporary process of changes. The article provides the author s suggestions for the improvement of human resources management in the environment of Lithuanian organizations. Keywords: organization, challenge, human resources management, organization s environment, loyalty. Łukasz Sienkiewicz, Agnieszka Wojtczuk-Turek BARRIERS TO HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT IN POLAND The aim of the article is to present barriers to human capital development in Poland. The research was carried out on 941 respondents, from medium and large companies categorized as knowledge-intensive service (KIS), less-knowledge intensive service (LKIS) and production. The research indicates the following barriers: lack of financial resources, higher priority of other issues/projects/investments, lack of time for developmental actions, lack of consciousness of Board members and managers concerning the importance of development, lack of employees eagerness to learn, organizational culture resistant to change. Keywords: education, human capital, barriers, development. Dorota Molek-Winiarska Stress Management Interventions in Polish Companies Research Results Numerous studies on work-related stress and stress management interventions have led to the formulation of some rules and theories. Nevertheless, the methodology of this kind is still imperfect. There is a tremendous need to do comparative research on different kinds of interventions. This article attempts to answer the following questions: Are entrepreneurs familiar with the idea of the stress management interventions? Have their implementations been introduced after taking into consideration the causes, costs and results of stress? Are the interventions effective or not? The results show that 45% of the employers know the idea of stress management interventions (SMI) and about 17% implement them. The most popular intervention is training supervisors in stress management and training employees to cope with stress. The results show also a relatively low quality of interventions of SMIs. Keywords: occupational stress, work-related stress, interventions, stress management, costs. Agata Borowska-Pietrzak DETERMINANTS OF JOB SATISFACTION EMPIRICAL STUDY

5 Job satisfaction is becoming a subject of growing interest in organizations. It is justified that job satisfaction has an impact on business performance. Committed staff can be a determining factor in the success of an organization. It is very important to recognize the determinants of job satisfaction. The purpose of the paper is to review the literature concerning about the determinants of job satisfaction. Based on the study of the literature, the author made her own model of determinants of job satisfaction. The final conclusions are related to the empirical study based on job satisfaction survey conducted in the X firm. There is detailed information and analysis on the structure of the factors affecting job satisfaction in this company. The findings obtained from the survey could support theoretical views described in the paper: the determinants which are in the presented model are also present in tested organizations. Keywords: job satisfaction, model of determinants of job satisfaction, empirical survey, commitment, human capital. Piotr Stawiński USE OF GENETIC ALGORITHMS IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT. LITERATURE REVIEW AND CURRENT TRENDS For the past few decades SCM has been one of the main objectives in research and practice. Since that time researchers have developed a lot of methods and procedures which optimized this process. To create an efficient supply chain network the resources and factories must be tightly integrated. The most supply chain network designs have multiple layers, members, periods, products, and comparative resources constraints exist between different layers. Supply chain networks design is related to the problems which are very popular in literature. The subject of this paper is to present the variants, configurations and parameters of genetic algorithm (GA) for solving supply chain network design problems. We focus on references from 2000 to Furthermore, current trends are introduced and discussed. Keywords: supply chain management, genetic algorithm, optimization. Łukasz Mlost GENERATION Y EMPLOYEES. MONOLITH OR VARIETY MIXTURE? The article presents, in a synthetic way, the results of studies and reports concerning generation Y, in particular in relation to students and their specific attitudes and expectations in terms of work, employers and professional career. This article is also a voice in discussion on the homogeneity of this generation as well as on the difference scale between young people entering the labour market and older employees within the context of the debate on that issue, taking place in the scientific literature and social and economic life. Based on presented study results, conclusions of applicable nature have been arrived at, which are important from the perspective of how to effectively manage and motivate young people entering the labour market. Keywords: generation Y, labour market, students, education, work, professional career.
