We are one of very few spas in New York that practice Sugaring Hair Removal.

6 The technique we use is different than most other techniques. We use only Tamara's Professional Body Sugaring, and use the techniques certified by Tamara. This means using a gloved hand to apply the sugar paste and a flicking motion to remove it. The technique is much less painful than waxing, and longer lasting. When done correctly there should be much less discomfort during the process than waxing and absolutely no chance of being burned. Ingrown hairs are kept to a minimum, and it is an overall much more pleasant experience. Are there any negative effects or downfalls to Body Sugaring? Not many!! Body sugaring is a rare service that few have been trained in. It is extremely difficult to locate experienced Sugaring technicians; therefore you will find sugaring rates to be higher than waxing. However, the benefits are immense. Sugaring hair removal is less painful than waxing, better for sensitive skin, does not irritate the skin like waxing, and it generally lasts longer. Also, many times the hair grows back slower and thinner, or not at all. Sugaring is a great alternative to laser hair removal at a fraction of the cost! What is Body Sugaring Hair Removal? Body Sugaring is a form of hair removal that removes the hair from the follicle in the natural direction of hair growth using a sugar paste. The sugar paste is all natural made of sugar, lemon and water and has a consistency of taffy. What are the advantages and benefits of Body Sugaring Hair Removal? Sugar paste contains no chemicals, resins or preservatives, it is hypoallergenic and safe for all skin types. Diabetics, those with eczema, spider or varicose veins and those prone to breakouts and ingrown hairs after waxing, will benefit from Body Sugaring. Body Sugaring is much more sanitary than wax. Sugar is naturally anti- bacterial and contains healing properties. Bacteria does not breed or thrive in sugar.

7 Sugar paste is applied at room temperature so there is never a risk in burning the skin. Body sugaring is water soluble meaning you can easily clean any residue with plain water unlike regular wax. You will never have a left over sticky or tacky residue. Hair can be removed at less than 1/8th of an inch (2-3 days of hair growth) as opposed to waxing which requires 1/4th inch re- growth. Over time, frequent sugaring during the beginning stage of hair growth (Anagen), the follicle wall will begin to weaken. This causes hair to grow back thinner and finer. Eventually the follicle wall will collapse and will stop producing a hair. The paste is very gentle and can be put right over an area that was just sugared but missed some hairs, without fear of much irritation. Sugaring does not attach to live skin cells. Sugaring will only take away dead skin cells. If your skin is not already over- exfoliated (using glycolic, Retin A or peels) you do not have to worry about the sugar accidentally removing skin. How is the sugar paste applied? The true advanced hand method of Sugaring uses a ball of sugar paste. Your technician will use a gloved hand at all times. She/He will retrieve a good amount of sugar from a jar at room temperature. The sugar paste is molded into the hair follicle, opposite the direction of hair growth. The sugar paste is then flicked in the natural direction of hair growth removing the entire hair from the follicle wall. The same ball of sugar is used for entire area to be sugared. What is the difference between waxing and sugaring application? With waxing, the wax is applied in the direction of hair growth and removed opposite hair growth. Sometimes, this method does not always remove the entire hair from the follicle but rather breaks the hair off resulting in faster re- growth and ingrown hairs. Body sugaring removes the hair in the direction of hair growth, resulting in less hair breakage, quicker refinement, and reduced skin irritation. Is Body Sugaring Painful? Does Body Sugaring hurt as much as waxing? Well, we are still pulling hair out from the root. So yes, it is a bit painful but most people find that it is less painful than waxing. FIRST VISIT Arrive 10 minutes prior to your first treatment to allow ample time to check in and prepare for your treatment. Arriving late will simply limit the time for your treatment, reducing its effectiveness and your pleasure. Your treatment will end on time so that the next guest is not delayed. LATE POLICY If arrival is delayed, we will make every effort to accommodate your full appointment but this is not always possible. Service time may be abbreviated to avoid delays for other guests as treatments and are charged at full value. Appointments missed by 15 minutes or more are cancelled with a 100% spa credit, which is yours to use for your rescheduled future reservation. Last minute changes to appointments will be honored only if a service appointment is available for a later time in the day (of your appointment) and other guests are not inconvenienced. CANCELLATION AND NO SHOW POLICY Guests who book appointments and cannot join us for their scheduled reservation are granted full credit at the spa provided at least a 24- hour notice is provided. We do not provide refunds for cancelled/no show appointments. Spa packages, multiple service reservations, no show, or for parties of three or more are charged at full value for cancellation without appropriate notice. Last minute changes to appointments will be honored only if the service time is available and other guests are not inconvenienced. Last minute cancellations (4 hours prior to your appointment) will be charged 100% of the service value and are not refundable or available for spa credit. All service sales, retail sales and gift certificate sales are final, with no refunds. Should you not wish to redeem a gift certificate you can use it as a spa credit toward retail items. If an appointment made to redeem a gift certificate is not cancelled or rescheduled within the reasonable times as stated in the policies above, we will be unable to redeem your certificate. All spa guests will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire upon check- in, designed with your well being in mind. QUIET ENVIRONMENT As a courtesy to other guests, please maintain a quiet level of conversation. Cell phones and pagers must be turned off when entering the spa.
