Appalachian State University Staff Psychologist and Outreach Coordinator 8/96-8/00 Boone, NC This was a full-time position on staff at the Appalachian State University Counseling Center. All clients were students of the University. Duties included individual, couples, and group counseling, crisis intervention and on-call responsibilities, supervision of practicum students and interns (both masters and pre-doctoral students), and intake hours. As Outreach Coordinator, outreach duties included training interns, scheduling and conducting programs, as well as consultation with students and staff. Additionally, staff were given the privilege to teach classes on occasion. Ball State University Doctoral Internship 8/95-8/96 Muncie, IN This was a 2000-hour, APA approved pre-doctoral internship at the University Counseling Center. All clients were students enrolled at Ball State University. Duties included individual, couples, and group counseling, as well as crisis/emergency intake, on-call, and outreach programming. Also, interns were expected to supervise masters and doctoral-level students. The specialty chosen for internship was a year-long rotation with eating disorders. Other foci included trauma issues, women issues, and GLBT issues.

Approximately one to three reports was/were competed each week to aid psychiatrists in diagnoses. Reports were written for children, adolescents, and adults. Supervision of Masters Students 1/94-5/95 Counseling Psychology Services Student Counselor 1/91-5/95 The Counseling Psychology Department at the has a clinic that allows students to participate in a variety of activities, such as psychotherapy and supervision. Psychodrama Training Group Group Participant 1/92-5/04 Over 100 hours This was a training group formed by several interested students in the Counseling Psychology Department at the. Training included learning the theory behind psychodrama, as well as participating in actual psychodramatic techniques. Federal Correctional Institution Practicum 10/90-8/91 Lexington, KY This was a 1000-hour practicum at a Federal prison for women. Duties included individual counseling, coleading groups, as well as participating in weekly in-service training. Clients consisted of female inmates of diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic status. Lexington Rape Crisis Center Rape Crisis Volunteer 10/90-9/91 Lexington, KY Duties for the Rape Crisis Center included four hour phone shifts every other week, as well as going to the hospital, and/or offering support through court cases as needed. Allied Behavioral Services, Inc. Master s Internship 5/90-8/90 South Charleston, WV This was a 400-hour internship in a private practice. Duties included counseling with individuals, couples, and families, as well as conducting court-ordered assessments for child protective services, social security, and disability cases. Marshall Psychology Clinic Practicum 8/89-5/90 Huntington, WV The Clinical Psychology Department at Marshall University has a clinic, which affords graduate students the opportunity to do psychotherapy with students and members of the general community. Marshall Counseling Center Graduate Assistant 8/88-5/90 Substance Abuse Program This was a 20-hour per week position that involved helping the Substance Abuse Coordinator with a variety of tasks including alcohol and drug awareness weeks, research, developing educational pamphlets, and conducting outreach presentations. Marshall Counseling Center Peer Counseling 8/88-5/90 Women s Center Opportunities were available at the Counseling Center to participate in a number of voluntary activities. Volunteer activities included counseling sexual assault survivors, being on call for sexual assault crises, and serving as a support group facilitator.
