1 PROVISION OF STORAGE INFRASTRUCTURE The following questions were received by the Financial Services Board (FSB) on bid FSB2015/026 and are responded to accordingly: 1. In terms of pricing, it is mention that Rand based pricing needs to be fixed for 90 days starting 28 September Quotes received from almost all OEM s are based on a dollar price. What ROE can be used to ensure that pricing is equally compared? 2. What Application workloads are currently residing on the Dell storage array? Is there work-profile for these Applications? The bidders must take the required hedge and quote the FSB in South African Rands. The current business applications peak at 5000 IOPS. The new all flash array will cater for new high performance workloads from applications currently in project mode at the moment such as ECM, ERP, Workflow systems, Regulatory platform and most importantly, enabling CommVault to reduce backup time/window and restore time. 3. How many servers will access the array? About 190 Windows servers (2008 R2 and 2012) 4. What are the speeds of the Network/ISCSI cards on 10 GBps these servers? 5. Are there any VMware/HyperV workloads on the array? 86% of workloads are visualized on Hyper-V. 6. What is the current speed of your internal network? 1/10 GBps. 7. Is the proposed 100TB usable or raw capacity? Usable Capacity Is this actual capacity or de duplicated capacity? 2 8. The growth is factored for 7% per annum. How many Five (5) years. years must be taken in consideration for the total growth? 9. What is the De-duplication ratio of 5:1 is based on? Is this based on FSB s current data sets or is this a generic assumption? 10. What read & write ratio is the IOPS based on? What block size is been factored? The FSB requires 100TB usable capacity. The dedup ratio will be determines by the proposed solution and the FSB does not prescribe how the solution should be like. The FSB would prefer an array that can be configurable on various block sizes but the FSB does not prescribe the block size as it would vary from array to array. 11. What is the current bandwidth between the 2 sites? 64MB through an F5 WAN Optimization Module (1600). 12. Will only ISCSI arrays be considered for this bid? Yes Will Fibre channel connectivity be accepted? 13. Do the servers have any Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters? 14. Does the environment have any Fibre Channel San Switches? 15. Will FSB use the existing 10Gb iscsi infrastructure for connectivity to the arrays? 16. Bidder/Entity XXXX [Name redacted on purpose by FSB] are not listed on the FSB Supplier Database. How many hosts would we be connecting to the storage arrays (Production/DR)? The FSB has consolidated 86% of its workloads into DELL M1000e blade enclosure. 27. 4 provided? 28. The tender requirements specify all flash array whilst the Input Output Operations per Second (IOPS) requirement are very low. Is the requirement to provide an all flash array, or hybrid array that meets the IOPS requirement? The requirement is for an ALL FLASH ARRAY and not a hybrid array. 29. Does the FSB prefer iscsi or Fibre Channel Refer to paragraph 5 of section A of the Tender document - connectivity? In this bid, the focus is on the replacement of the current DELL PS6500 series internet Small Computer System Interface (iscsi) storage with an iscsi all flash storage array solution. 30. What maintenance SLA is required? Refer to paragraph of section D. support and 31. Does the FSB an exact duplicate of the production storage device in DR, or can a cost effective DR storage device be proposed that meets the capacity requirements? 32. FSB have requested a solution to cater for 100TB of usable data per site. Can we perhaps obtain a list of applications that will be migrated off the existing arrays and if available the sizes of different environments as this will assist in sizing our solution in terms of the data reduction. maintenance for a period of five (5) years. Supply, install, and configure an all flash array storage solution for the FSB s production and disaster recovery (DR) site located within a radius of 100 kilometres from the offices of the FSB in Gauteng Province. All production applications will be migrated to the new storage. The total storage used is 80TB. 5 The All Flash Array will also be enable the Archiving and Backup Solution (CommVault) to reduce Backup times and windows. Some of the business applications include: Magic (Regulatory System) OpenText (edocs) Educos Vision (HR) NuQ (Payroll) Sage Accpac ERP/CRM/VRM (Finance /Supply Chain) Migrate data from current production DELL storage into the proposed storage solution. With regards to the above tender, Is FSB looking for Dell products only or are we allowed to propose another brand with similar or even better capabilities than what has been requested? Yes.
