2 About Troy Singleton Assemblyman Troy Singleton has devoted his life to public service in government, political, and policy posts at all levels. His rapid rise to the highest levels of management in the New Jersey Legislature and as an elected official is a testament to his widely praised talent for assessing, developing, and implementing legislative responses to major public policy challenges. Troy graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, specialization in Finance, from Rowan University. He began his career as Legislative Director for New Jersey Assemblymen Herb Conaway and Jack Conners in the district he would come to represent. He was honored to then serve as Deputy Executive Director of the New Jersey General Assembly Majority Office under the highly respected Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts, Jr. York. In 2011, he was elected to his first term in the New Jersey General Assembly, representing the 7th Legislative District. Troy is the Vice-Chairman of the Assembly Tourism & Gaming Committee and serves on the Assembly Budget and Education Committees. While working for individual legislators, when managing the NJ General Assembly Majority Office, during his tenure as Carpenters union labor management chief executive, and now as a State Assemblyman he has focused on issues, ideas, and initiatives that support hard working taxpayers and strong New Jersey communities. Troy later joined the Northeastern Regional Council of Carpenters, a progressive union representing over 30,000 politically active members in New Jersey and New Learn more about Troy s Stance on the Issues. Visit: Among the many laws he has authored in his short tenure include proposals to provide resources to upgrade New Jersey higher education in an effort to attract and retain the best and brightest students in our State, establishing the Helmets-to-Hardhats pilot program to help out-of-work former military personnel find jobs in the construction industry, and working to stem the flow of illegal guns into our streets by enhancing penalties for illegal firearms offenses. Additionally, Assemblyman Singleton has championed the rights of domestic violence victims through his proposal to establish a four-year pilot program for electronic monitoring of domestic violence offenders. Further, Troy has fought to create a Small Business Loan Program in the EDA to allow small businesses to be eligible for low interest rate loans to expand. His primary focus remains on job creation, economic development and the needs of New Jersey s working families. Along with this busy career, Troy is a devoted husband and father of three who has long included personal involvement in community and politics as essential components of his life. He is a past board member of Rowan University, the Boys & Girls Club of Camden County, the Garden States Arts Foundation, the Trenton Civilian Emergency Response Team, and a volunteer coach with the Pennsauken Youth Athletic Association. Troy has also served as a Commissioner on the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. He currently serves as a Commissioner on the Burlington County Bridge Commission, as Co-Chair of New Leaders Council New Jersey, and is a member of both Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. (Kappa Upsilon Sigma Chapter) and the VFW Post #3020 Men s Auxiliary.

5 What They re Saying Rising Stars Split decision in 7th District GG: Troy Singleton, No. 7 A 7th District Democratic Assemblyman from Palmyra, Singleton, 39, was first elected to the Legislature in He is described by one party official as a sharp guy, very aggressive on social media a la Cory Booker, a real upand-comer. He served previously on the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, as deputy executive director of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee and as a trustee at his alma mater, Rowan University. He is president of the New Jersey Carpenter Contractor Trust. com/article/ / OPINION02/ /Rising- Stars?nclick_check=1 Five political questions for New Jersey in 2014 The state s General Assembly has its share of ambitious lawmakers, but not all are in as good of a position as Assemblyman Troy Singleton. The South Jersey lawmaker has significant union ties that would make him a suitable gubernatorial candidate if not a very strong lieutenant governor hopeful running alongside either a North Jersey or South Jersey guv hopeful. political_questions_for_new_jersey_ in_2014 While Singleton s time in the Assembly has been brief, he has a record of getting results, particularly with his work on a package of common-sense gun legislation and enacting the New Jersey Economic Opportunity Act, which will help streamline the state s economicdevelopment tax-incentive programs. opinion/editorial/split-decision-in-th- district/article_eb828a02-c727-5e7d- 84bf-d02e032a6e0a.html POLITICKERNJ s 50 Most Powerful Elected Officials: Troy Singleton, LD7 Assemblyman D The protégé of former Speaker Joe Roberts has strong professional and political ties to the Carpenters and South Jersey and a 24/7 political temperament. He s in a very solid position in the 2017 gubernatorial sweepstakes as players on all sides court his attentions. politickernjs-50-most-powerfulelected-officials-2014/ The rising political stars of New Jersey The Political Rising Stars of New Jersey 2014 Popular, he can t see his name in print without inevitably running into the words rising star, which already has other South Jersey politicos squirming. New Jersey s business incentives are revitalizing Camden: Opinion We are pleased to see Assemblyman Troy Singleton, D-Burlington and many others taking steps to increase the economic viability of the region. ssf/2014/08/new_jerseys_business_ incentives_are_revitalizing_camden_ opinion.html
