AC Education Goal A: See SIP o The pilot, using the five competencies/behaviors agreed upon by Nebraska Deans and Directors as distinguishing the BSN graduate, is occurring at one public & one private school as RN-BSN students create a portfolio based on the competencies as part of an existing course. The portfolio outcomes will be collaboratively evaluated by the BSN and ADN schools. AC Education Goal B: See SIP o All BSN programs in Nebraska are being surveyed for curricular congruence with the five BSN competencies/behaviors. Leadership is one of the major competencies. The survey

2 design incorporates a gap analysis design adapted from Massachusetts with each individual competency sent to schools on an established timeline for completion. 2. Are students enrolled via one of the four identified promising models of education progression? Yes No If yes, check all that apply: RN to BSN Degrees Awarded by Community Colleges RN to MSN Programs State or Regional Competency Based Programs State or Regional Shared Curriculum Other: Pilot initiated October, 2013 with one private RN-BSN program and one public RN-BSN program. Students in these programs will create a portfolio using evidence to identify meeting areas within the five defined competencies and their behaviors. Evidence they can incorporate includes professional work experience, academic course work and/or professional continuing education. The goal of competency use is to create a more seamless system for nurses seeking to advance their education to the BSN degree. 3. Through efforts of your AC, has the state community college association agreed to help inform/recruit ADNs to advance their education? Yes No If yes, briefly explain: The Community Colleges are part of NE Assembly of Nursing Deans and Directors (NANDD). RN-BSN programs will evaluate and award credit to AD RNs for coursework, experience, and continuing education based on meeting the behaviors for the established BSN competencies. The goal is to identify BSN competencies across curricula that distinguish BSN graduates and facilitate seamless advancement to RN-BSN education. Leadership 1.
