3 Executive Summary Serious consideration needs to be given to maintaining control of a number of factors when providing Internet access to unknown and untrusted users. How do you offer wifi securely? In October 2011 the government signed the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement that will mandate that you are responsible for who uses your Internet if you offer it free or paid and businesses may be prosecuted for illegal downloads and access to inappropriate websites by users of their internet network. The solution recommended will cover the following points to ensure that: The business knows and can identify who is using the Internet network. The business protects itself from the Internet network being used for illegal activities that it may be held accountable for. The amount of data usage and upload/download speeds of users on the network can be controlled. End users data usage is controlled and managed so as not to receive excess data bills from service providers due to going over download limits or worse, the businesses Internet being throttled so the speed of the Internet network is that slow that no-one can use the Internet or even access the business website. Businesses must be aware that Piracy is the term used for copying, selling, or using software that hasn't been properly licensed or paid for. Software piracy is illegal because it is stealing, and attracts hefty fines/imprisonment. Downloading music, games, movies etc, without permission is illegal in Australia - even if you're only downloading for personal use! It's a breach of copyright and if you haven't paid for a copyrighted download or asked permission to download it then you are breaking Australian law. Downloads limits by end users need to be controlled as there is the ability for a user to almost anonymously download large amounts of data by way of movies and other multimedia applications possibly incurring excess data charges for the business or clogging your network so no-one else can access the internet, including your business! Additionally, the possible use of the organisations internet gateway for the propagation of SPAM, could lead to the blacklisting of the business with ISP s and impact its own business use. Time Out Internet will propose a secure and managed solution and include the capabilities to protect against this type of theft and will best impart this level of security while maintaining capital expenditure at a minimum. There are many instances of organisations not implementing the correct security policies and infrastructure that have paid the price. The aim of this solution is to provide a better level of service to attract a greater number of patrons along with protecting your business. Page 3 of 35

13 Sample Voucher Sample Voucher with Collect ID details PayPal/Credit Card Purchasable Plans Business wifi can make you money! If you want to sell wifi to your customers, one of the easiest and autonomous ways to do so is by setting up some purchasable plans that allows your customers to buy data using a credit card or PayPal account, 24 hours a day. Don t miss out on a sale due to the office/shop not being open! You set the pricing and plans and you get 100% of the revenue. Your business needs its own business PayPal account which the end users money is paid into when purchasing the Internet. PayPal is easy to set up and we have step by step instructions to help you). This is a handy service for customers that require more Internet access than the business provides freely - they can purchase from you at their leisure. PERMANENTS, LOCK AND LEAVES OR SHORT TERM RENTALS If you are an accommodation provider that has permanents, lock and leaves or short term rental properties on your portfolio, this is the perfect way to offer Internet to them and get a Return on your Investment. Quite often the permanent, lock and leaves or short term rentals cannot get a phone line into their unit/apartment or only have a short lease period to take advantage of the cheaper monthly fees that ISP s provide, such as Telstra Bigpond and these people are forced to use USB data dongles for their Internet access which is very expensive. You can set up some plans to sell to them that are well priced and competitive and you can receive a monthly payment for Internet from these users a win/win for you and the tenant! Page 13 of 35
14 SUGGESTED DATA PLAN PRICING AND TIME FRAMES. The following plans are suggested only. You can set whatever pricing and timeframes you want. You can adjust your pricing and plans whenever you need to. Our recommendations are: Keep plan options to 3 4 too many options just confuses the guests Keep the pricing desirable below USB dongle recharge pricing. If you make the pricing desirable, people will buy it. Have a good gap between 1Gb 5Gb as most people will buy the larger option. Data Amount Time frame to use data Fee 500Mb 3 days $4 - $6 1Gb 7 days $9 - $10 5Gb 30 days $ Gb 30 days $50-60 The customer login screen/splash screen below shows some sample purchasable plans and what your customers see. They click the Buy Now button to start the purchasing process and can use a credit card or PayPal to purchase data. Page 14 of 35

You allocate a username and password for the customer, the amount of data you wish to provide (free or charge), how many users or devices can log in at the same time using the log in details, limit the upload/download speed (if you want), the time that the data renews each day and a checkout date (if required). There are two types of users you can add under the Add User button. Add Recurring User use this area to set up compendium voucher users the data recurs every day, 7 or 30 days, whichever you choose, for an ongoing period of time Add One Off User this creates a username and password for a one off period of time and data and internet access use for free wifi or to sell wifi. 16 The Save and Print button is a handy feature when you set up a user or if a user needs a copy of their username and password and details of their account and what data they have available that you have set up. An A4 sheet will appear and will have the following information on it 1. Your businesses name 2. The amount of people or devices that can login at the same time 3. Amount of data per day for the user 4. When the data renews each day 5. Username 6. Password 7. Troubleshooting tip Page 16 of 35
17 Room Compendium Voucher GUEST WIFI MADE EASY An easy way to manage free wifi in the rooms of your complex is to set up a recurring user as the room number with a unique password for every room in Time Out Internet s Access Control Server. These details can be kept in a compendium in each room (if utilised) or you can print and hand out at reception as guests check in or put in a welcome pack. This feature allows you to allocate and amount of data for free, every day, per room that renews at the same time every day - autonomously. Five people or five devices can log on at the same time using these login details and share the amount of daily allowable data. You do not have to create a username and password for every user or device in that room. Once the amount of data is used, they will not be able to access the internet and will either have to wait until their data renews or purchase some more from you. A template of the voucher below is provided and customisable so you can include the following: 1. Your logo 2. The amount of data allowable each day 3. The time of day the data is renewed 4. The name of your wifi network so customers can identify it easily 5. Unique username and password details for each room If you put the vouchers in a compendium in each room, we recommend that the usernames and passwords are changed every 6 months for security purposes or more frequently if you have regular customers. As a value added service Time Out Internet can set up the compendium vouchers for you and remind you that your passwords are 6 months old and update them for you. A4 or A5 sized compendium vouchers are available Page 17 of 35

You can embed a static web page into the login page/splash screen, however most websites contain lots of widgets and plug-ins (eg: booking services, links to Facebook, Flash Player slide shows) and will not load as you need to allow the system access to every one of these sites which then opens up your end users to access Facebook, etc without logging in. Time Out Internet can help guide you in regards to static web pages and also embed images into your login page/splash screen. Example customer login page/splash screen Page 19 of 35

26 Law Enforcement - Data Retention/ IP Address Retention/Tracking As of 22nd August 2012, law enforcement agencies will be able to force internet service providers (ISP s) to store data on subscribers under new legislation approved by the Senate. The Cybercrime Legislation Amendment Bill 2011 amends the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 1987, the Criminal Code Act 1995, the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 and the Telecommunications Act The changes allow police to force telcos and ISP s to retain data on persons of interest for a set period while a warrant is sought. This period could be up to two years. The purpose of a data retention regime is to ensure that information other than the content of communications is still available for general law enforcement and national security purposes. These legal changes have been lauded by law enforcement and intelligence agencies as key to cracking down on international cybercrime. If you are offering free or paid internet to clients (e.g.: resorts, cafe, restaurant, motel/hotels, library, etc) then you may be requested to retain data and you need to ensure you have the provisions in place to do so. Should law enforcement agencies seek to investigate your business for piracy concerns and identify end users/guests that have accessed the Internet inappropriately, you are obligated to provide the traffic data and location data which can be the trace source of a communication. To help protect yourself and your business from inappropriate Internet access, Time Out Internet, if requested by authorities, can commence retaining IP addresses that your business produces for a rolling 24 month period of time. This information is confidential and can only be accessed by the Time Out Internet Directors if the information is required by law enforcement agencies and the correct authority in writing would be required before the information can be accessed/obtained. Time Out Internet does not keep the Name and Address details of guests, only IP address details, date and time of login, user name and MAC address. The details that Time Out Internet retains will need to be matched to the guests name and address details that you retain when they offer the guest Internet access. The number of months that Time Out Internet retain/track IP Addresses for is subject to change based on Australian Laws and Time Out Internet s customers will be kept abreast of any changes that may occur to retention times. From the enquiry stage to the setup stage and beyond, we experienced absolutely dedicated and superior service. Our experience was a feeling that we were being treated as if we were Time Out Internet's most important customer. This service level was really important to us, as we are a very remote resort in the middle of the South Pacific. Both Peter and Judy went the extra mile for us, with Peter even taking the initiative to provide a specific property heat map for us; that he developed from his own research. This allowed us to properly plan how many repeaters we required and where exactly to place them. The instructions were also very clear and Judy was completely on top of ensuring we understood how to set up the system. She was in touch with us every step of the way. The setup was easy and straightforward, and worked instantly! The Time Out Internet system is extremely easy to understand. We have been adding new internet plans and printing off hotspot tickets, which has been a great success with our guests and also our management. We have now been managing the Time Out Internet system for a few weeks, and it has proven itself many times over as one of the best business decisions we have made. Our return on investment has been excellent, and we have received good feedback from our guests who are very happy with the convenience. On one occasion, our electrician had to turn off the power for a few minutes. We immediately received an from Peter to inform us that one of our repeaters was down. This level of service is impressive. We would not hesitate to recommend Time Out Internet to any accommodation property. It has given us complete peace of mind. Richard Stephens, Director, Fairshore Beachfront Apartments, Noosa Heads, Qld 30th January 2013 At Coco Bay Resort, we could not be happier with the service and support that we have been getting from Judy and Peter at Time Out Internet. From the initial contact to the final installation, they have both been extremely approachable with any questions or concerns that we had with their proposal. Peter has been very proactive is his monitoring of our system. He has called us to let us know that we may have some problems, even before our guests. Our guests are also very happy with the extra coverage that we have been provided with Peter s hardware used at the time of installation. We cannot thank them enough for their service and effort in attending to our needs. We would strongly recommend Time Out Internet to any resort of motel when considering upgrading or installing a WIFI network. Darren and Debbie Schwerin Coco Bay Resort Noosaville QLD 23rd January 2013 At Lanai Riverside Apartments, Mackay we use Time Out Internet. We have 80 apartments and manage 65 within the complex on a short-term letting basis. It is a great selling point to offer free wireless internet to our guests, as everyone these days is connected to the internet at some point in their day! We find Time Out Internet very easy to use. We have been able to create individual users and vouchers, with varying download limits which has proven to be invaluable. A secure network is very important to us and Time Out Internet makes it very easy to comply with information retention of users. The service provided is fantastic. The team at Time Out Internet are always quick to help us with questions and technical advice. Emma, General Manager Lanai Serviced Apartments 26 th November 2012 We needed an internet system for our motel that was separate from our internal network and had ways to control both content and data usage. We found Time Out Internet reasonably priced and was easy to set up. Their customer service was great with plenty of follow ups. We now have an easy to use internet service that we can offer our customers both free and paid. Time Out Internet is an extremely well done product and the staff are only a call or away. I would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone else that needs a controlled internet environment. We have only had Time Out Internet for a short period but it has begun to payback the small outlay already. Matt Avery Black Boy Tree Motel, Taree NSW 20 th November 2012 For the past 3 months we have been using Time Out Internet at our accommodation complex, Traralgon Serviced Apartments. We have a fairly unique property in that we have 3 locations which each relay our internet services to guests in different ways. Previously access to our network was available to anybody who walked by! Time Out Internet was easy to install (we installed it ourselves in 3 unique locations, no problems at all!) and now we have a secure network that provides better service to all our guests. Time Out Internet has an easy-to-use backend User Interface where you create vouchers or users and is very easy to monitor. Being able to customise each user or set of vouchers has proven to be invaluable. The provision of internet access to our guests is very important as most of our clients are business people that rely on connectivity to perform their jobs whilst on the road. Overall we are very happy with the security, stability and ease-of-use of Time Out Internet and would be happy to recommend it to any accommodation business as a solution for providing guest internet services. 32 FAQ GUEST WIFI MADE EASY Do I need to get an IT person to install Time Out Internet? Time Out Internet is an easy to install router with inbuilt software that you plug and play. There is a hardware set up component that should take approximately 5 minutes (plugging in power cord, Ethernet cable and router). Note: To use Time Out Internet, it is important that if your existing router has in built wireless, you will need to disable the wireless function you may need to speak to your internet service provider or modem manufacturer to help you do this. You are not cancelling your Internet service. Time Out Internet becomes your wireless router and you will need to connect each device that will access the internet to the new wireless signal name you have created when registering Time Out Internet. If you are unsure of how to connect to the new wireless signal name, refer to your devices documentation (eg: laptop, iphone, desktop computer) on how to connect to a wireless network. Some people may need to get their local IT person to set up and connect to the Time Out Internet wireless router if they are unsure how to do this. Will Time Out Internet work with my existing hardware and software or will I have to buy other software or hardware to make it work? Time Out Internet comes with everything you need pre-installed. Your existing router or modem just needs to have a LAN (Ethernet) port (most do). Can I increase my download limits via Time Out Internet? No. You can only increase your download limits and speed through your Internet Service Provider. If I have internet connectivity problems do I call my internet provider or Time Out Internet technical support? Turn your routers and computers off and leave for 10 minutes and turn back on. See if you can connect. Always call your internet provider first. If you cannot receive the internet or have connectivity problems, 99.9% of the time it will be from your Internet provider. If you have covered all bases with your ISP and you still cannot get on the Internet, please do not hesitate to contact us via Time Out Internet Technical Support on the Time Out Internet web site. or on the Support Line am 7 pm - 7 Days AEST (excludes Public Holidays) Can I change the Time Out Internet settings for users at any time? Yes. Whoever has the Administration password to Time Out Internet s Access Control Server can change the settings at any time for any user on your network, anywhere, as long as they have access to the internet. You can check who is on line and user usage from any internet connection. Eg: at work, on holidays, etc. Note: if you are trying to change a users setting and that user is already logged on to the internet, the changes you make to them will not occur until they log off and they log back on the next time. What happens when my annual Time Out Internet Annual Access Control Server Service and Support expires? You will receive an invoice in the 11 th month. The invoice will advise you that your access control service and support is due for payment in a month s time. If you do not wish to continue with the service, advise Time Out Internet in writing and we will cancel the service. Does Time Out Internet work on Apple technology? Time Out Internet works on all software platforms as long as they are on your wireless network. Apple, Linux, Open source and Microsoft. Page 32 of 35
33 Can customers use Playstation or Xbox devices on the internet when Time Out Internet is activated? No. Gaming devices will not be able to be used on your network as they do not have a browser interface to be able to input a username and password. How many users can be managed by Time Out Internet? Can you all be on the internet at the same time? It is very subjective and can vary depending on the amount of routers you have, the size of the area of your business, the service you have from your Internet provider and the service you require. We would need to get information on your environment to be able to accurately answer this. Yes, with the correct solution for your environment/business you can all be on the internet at the same time. What if I don t want to be monitored by Time Out Internet or I want my office separate to it? When setting up Time Out Internet se there is a function that allows you to have a secondary private wifi signal. This allows you to have two wireless networks. The second one you can connect to that bypasses Time Out Internet. Perfect for an office environment where you don t want to have to sign in every time you access the internet. The secondary private wifi signal is password protected and secure through Time Out Internet so outsiders cannot access it unless they know the password. Page 33 of 35
